Re: great confessor write-up
Hi All!!

Just hit 22 as a Confessor and I expect to be joining up with the guild in the not too distant future. I understand the guild has a number of Confessors and I'd like their input on the template suggested in this thread.

I have seen my guy draw some aggro if I get too aggressive with my DD, so I was thinking of maybe some more defense, such as the healer's Blessed Protection and/or Steadfast Soul.

How do you guys feel about the 3 DOT's? So far I've trained two of them, Purgation and Uvoriel. Do I need Contrition or can I forego that for more defense?

Any advice you higher levels can offer is much appreciated.

Re: great confessor write-up
I'm not a higher level, but Rim says to GM Contrition and that helps a LOT. Just don't cast it on yourself like I did twice last night. lol

Also, I am training Steadfast. That might be right or wrong... The guy that wrote this seems to think that it's broken, and so do a lot of others, but in reality when it disappears (sp?) it has worked. It is an absorber, so as you are hit, it will do it's job til it is gone. It is on a timer though so do some checking and see what you think.

Hope you like your 'fessor, I sure like mine.

Re: great confessor write-up
Thanks Misst. I was heavily considering Steadfast and will take a good look before I commit. Actually, I haven't been able to find contrition yet on any trainer. Do I need to train Purge wickedness to 6 before it shows up on the trainer? I thought all available spells show up on the trainer, but is just blacked out if you don't meet the requirements. Am I missing something?

Any other opinions from the other 'fessors. BTW, 40 is high level when you're only 22. :eek

Re: great confessor write-up
But 40 will come fast for you, I promise.

Yes, you need to train Purge to 6 to open up Contrition, and you need to have 39 into Thaumaturgy. Of course, you should be getting that as high as $ will allow anyway. Those mobs will really show you the love when you train Contrition, lol. There is a trainer at TRistram that is a high level 'fessor, and will train you in whatever you need. Did you say you were joining the guild? I really look forward to meeting you!

Still confessing...
Follow up on my confessor. I'm now level 23 (wow...lol), but plan on cranking it up now. I've already concluded that medium armor is a must. I thought I had already trained Uvoriel, but I guess I was halucinating.

In any case, here's my latest thoughts. I'm considering sticking with just the one DOT-Purgation as an opening salvo and mostly for the snare effect. I'm finding it somewhat impractical to use repeatedly due to the casting time, so I question the value of 3 of them when I can just nuke away. I figure without 2 more dots, I can put points elsewhere. Has anyone tried using Blessed Mending and Blessed Healing together with Zealot?? I'm just wondering if that wouldn't provide me a constant source of health and mana while I nuke away. I could then also put some points into steadfast and/or blessed protection. Also, any thoughts on the confessor damage shield?? Big picture, I'm thinking I won't be quite as dynamic offensively without additional dots, but with some additional defense, health and mana, I should last quite a while and still be dishing out a decent hurting. Blessed healing would also allow me the flexibility of backup healer for group situations.

Thanks for your patience and I truly do hope I'll be adventuring with you guys shortly. These scrape together groups in Khar can be nerve wracking!!

Hi! Me again. Hit 27 last night. Summon is a beautiful thing. I made more money in 4 summons than I did all night killing mobs.

Still curious about thoughts re 3 dots vs. 2 heals and defense. Or any thoughts high level confessors might want to share. Thanks.

ps: Does anyone know the approximate rate of return of mana through Zealot. I'm usually too busy using it in situations to notice the actual effects.

Hello. I think you should come to AP and start your serious portion of leveling. Khar groups are no that safe and you would do better to join the guild sooner and level faster and get better loot.

With that said here is my opinion.
I have a lvl 47 Confessor that followed the template that was posted above. The only thing I have not yet done is the Contrition portion. I highly doubt that I will do it because of the 6 points that need to be spent prior to getting the spell. I will be taking those points and putting them into the AOE that Fessors get. To your question of getting another heal I say skip it and stay with your 1 primary heal that you use in conjunction with IOZ. I have my IOZ at lvl 20 and get by with it but plan on getting it to 25 beacuase the return compared to the heal is better at 25+. Remember that you are NOT a healer but you can heal if needed. It all comes down to GvG in the end and I would rather take them out ASAP and then heal myself afterwards and anyone else that needs one. You will find that after you hit 40 you will rarley die from a mob because you can Heal/IOZ and be ready to keep nuking in less than 30 seconds or so.

Choices for Jewelry for a confessor in my opinion should be this 10 Int/10 Con/30% Health Regen. Remember Health is actually mana waiting to be converted for you. If you can find any of these types of rings get the ASAP. These are great for Exp/Farming. For PvP you need to start looking for 25+ resistence jewelery. If you have a high lvl Channeler with you ask him for a Resist Buff before you leave to goto the siege and see what you are lacking in and use Jewelry to compensate for it. Granted you will loose the Init that you got from your other Jewelry but You will live alot longer.

Hi, I have a couple comments about your posts:
Quote:

It won't do you any good to recast a dot, unless it's effects have worn off. Recasting too soon is a waste of mana as the mob is already snared/poisoned. Sometimes DOTs might wear off quickly, or if your Thaumaturgy (get that as high as you can, mine is 140 after last night @ level 48 ) isn't high enough and the mob is resistant you might have to recast. You would know if it hit because of the snare effect or the message in systems. Most times it hits. The damage it does depends on Thaum. and int. though.

Blessed Healing is awful with the recast time. Stay away from it all together. GM Mending. If you get into trouble you can heal yourself with Mending even as you are nuking a mob. Also, GM Contrition (I think that is spelled correctly). But be aware, contrition is an agro magnet, big time. But when it is higher level, the health stealing points are sweet. I have watched Rim stay alive from this one spell easily. Mine is about 32 now, hope to GM it in the next several levels.

Also If you like you can put a point into the Group Heal that opens up with 20 into Blessed Mending. I put one point into it. It has about a 5 second recast time, and heals for about 175 hits per person IF I am in the correct stance.

Another thing I want to remind you of: Whenever you are fighting, don't forget offensive stance. As a healer based class, you have a mobile offensive unlike the mage based classes meaning you can walk and runn and still be in stance. Your heals and your attacks will hit much much harder.

The last thing is this, I put 38% into hammers. I don't intend to go higher than that, this is a personal choice. But with that much you can get a scepter that gives you plus 150 to attack rating. This makes your attack rating on spells that much higher as well.

So all in all, high int, as high as possible (mine without buffs and jewelry is 150), high Thaumaturgy (I took mine to the point where it took two points to raise it once, which for me was 140), plus 150% (or as close as you can get) attack rating weapon, GM contrition, Mending, Purgation, and BtW. Follow that guide, for the most part, it's really great! And at the level you are, if you have applied on the application thread, you need to get in touch with someone who is on some night and come on over to an exp area and get with us. It's time you drop that sheild and get with the Hand! ~_^

Thanks for the advice King. I'll seriously consider joining up asap, maybe tonight if roller hockey gets rained out (I coach the kids...don't play...those days are behind me).

I especially appreciate the advice on jewelry. This is my first level 27 character and I'm not all that up to speed on what's available.

With respect to the dots, I like the idea of having them, but what concerns me is the time to get them off. Do you find them practical enough to make them a regular part of your arsenal? Contrition is the one that I'm really up in the air about. Usually, most battles begin at full or near full health, thus eliminating half the benefit of casting this. Decisions, decisions...

Hi Misst

Your reply must have hit as I was replying to King. Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out.

I only took Brilliant Mind at the start, so I'm not sure how high I can get my base INT, but I get the point. I was planning on getting Thaum to 140 without jewelry. I take it you don't use Uvoriel as it wasn't mentioned.

I'm about to hit Catacombs now and redraft some possibilities. Hopefully, I'll get to meet you and the rest of the gang soon.

Incidentally, my Confessor is named Kandoo.

Re: Still confessing...
Your int will get better with the addition of a +30 to maximum or better rune. Save some points to apply one if you can. A +30 (7 to minimum) costs 8 stat points to apply.

I don't use Uvoriel's Judgement, but I put a few points into it before I thought it out. I will buy those points back when the buy backs are patched.

All of the things you have read are simply suggestions. you need to develpoe your character to suit your own needs. It's a good thing though, that you are thinking it through now, so as to save yourself headaches and gimping later. I severly gimped my first character, Jess, whom I wish was still my main (a priest). But, you live and learn. ;)

Looking forward to meeting you as well! Good to have you aboard!
