gardening/income
If you like to garden, whether flowers or vegetables, perhaps you could use that as a source of additional income.

My daughter is 9 and has asked if she could sell flowers from a roadside stand. So we are starting seeds now (January) and we'll she where she can take this.

Also, my son pots up young trees and takes them to his granddad when we go visit. We live in such different areas that the trees that are common here are not out there and my dad pays my son to bring him saplings that have been potted up and are well-established.

I intend to add some crafty things to my daughter's efforts, such as bird feeders, etc.

That seems llike a good idea! It will be a great learning experience for your Daughter. Not only will she learn about gardeneing, but how to run her own buisness. Perhaps she could also sell some seedlings of the flowers she's growning. I know around here small flats of seedlings for the garden sell well. Especially any thing that can be used in containor gardening. I have often thought of doing that, but just looking after my gardens keeps me running! I'm so glad you are working with her in the garden, I remember my Dad giving me my own little part of his garden, I was so proud of it. That was over 60 years ago, and I'm still gardeneing.

Kyria,

How are the plants coming along? I planted tomatoes, peppers and chrysanthemum seeds and they are growing like crazy. We have a South window in the guest room so they get plenty of light.

I've planted seeds indoors for the first time too. I'm really attempting to garden for free (or almost free) this year.........and at this new to me yard.

So, seeds it is. So much more frugal than plants. And, I'm happy to report my little "nursery" by the window here is coming along nicely. I get a couple more flats of seeds in each week.

I started setting out the bigger plants yesterday, to get a couple hours of sunshine outside.........then back in.

Can't wait to move the plants outside. I've been thinking about using the property here to raise plants and sell too.........seems a logical conclusion. I have room, love to garden and hmmmmm extra money??? Sounds like a win, win and win deal to me.
