This world was first discovered in the first year of its existence and time must begin somewhere so we will refer to the first year as year One. Time began on January 1, 1 in the world of Second Chances with the arrival of Crystal Dinaia in a cold, desolate world with no cities or inhabitants. Thinking she had been punished to the depths of hell for eternity, she merely assumed the fetal position and sobbed until her eyes could hold no more tears. Her surprise must have been staggering as she was soon joined by the first twelve other inhabitants of the world, the first twelve of the Elder Council arriving within four days of each other. Thus, the Council was born of the strong willed first inhabitants who began to construct a city on the very place they had all arrived, however, strangely enough, none of them saw the arrivals of any of the others, leaving a mystery as to how people came into the world. The only common knowledge was that they had all met death in the world before them. The direct spot upon which they built the Elders’ Palace was the first place Crystal had seen upon waking there. Little did they know, something buried deep within the ground there had drawn them to that very place, bound in golden orbs of a strange type of magic that had never been seen and has yet to be seen. Knowledge of this magic didn’t come into being until much later.

Genil was partially constructed after four years of the Elders’ arrival and people flocked to it from all corners of the world, seeking understanding and a way of life that made sense to live. Creatures with ill will, however, also flocked to Genil and upon the heavy deliberation of the young Elder Council, they began to banish Dark creatures from Genil for the protection of the majority of the weaker population. Outrage was heard from the banished people, seeking their own life style, two darker cities began to emerge on the horizon.

The construction of Nureese began at the hands of a strange being known as Him. Was this man an outcast of Genil? Little is known about him aside from the fact that he gained a following from the other refugees as their travels began. Humans that had been cast out of Genil were encouraged to go with this vampire-like leader with the understanding that they wouldn’t be eaten and could perhaps gain immortality one day. Nureese, as a city, sprang up quickly in defiance against its mother city, but was kept under the watch of Genil and the Council.

The City of Nureese grew large in the eight years of its existence, its size rivaling Genil’s. A group of humans that inhabited the city began to grow restless, especially those more wary of the vampires that had all but taken over the city. Talk of immigration began but most asked where they would go? A group of men rose to claim that they would travel to the rumored deserts to stake a claim on the sprawling desert lands, living as nomads. As factories began to go up in Nureese, the wandering humans continued on Eastward in search of a home and thus, Anarab sprung up out of the desert sands.

The building of the City of Anarab is completed after several dismaying destructions of the fledgling city by sandstorms. The smallest city has gained a reputation of being extremely sinful thanks to the mindsets of the men who first suggested their departure from Nureese. Women are considered unequal in the small communities forged in Anarab and most are put to work in less-than-reputable establishments, the hot desert sand only encouraging the movements of glistening bodies.

Each of the cities have grown in peace, each becoming large metropolitan centers in their own respect. Genil, however, has held complete control over the two other cities, somehow maintaining a constant watch over Nureese and Anarab. During the year 075, Genil somehow loses control of Nureese but chooses not to fight for the city, the still inexperienced Council figuring that they simply do not want anything to do with a city that thrives off of evil. Shortly thereafter, control of Anarab is quietly lost, though some of the council members feel a sense of dismay and foreboding. The military of Genil is not adequately equipped during this time to begin an invasion and control of the other cities, yet, the peace between the rests for the time being. Each city is pleased with what it has and though the greed over Genil’s surprising wealth is voiced, the thoughts are not acted on.

Receiving information about the expansive growth of the Dark cities as well as the factions known as the Schism Saints and the Collection, both already well developed, Genil begins to build walls around the mountain top city. The opinions of the other cities are not heard on this and almost all communication is ceased between the cities. History for each city now begins to split off as the White city and the Dark cities live excluded from each other aside from the occasional traveler.Edited by: Sethron at: 7/6/07 10:13 pm
The Festival of Lights had risen in Genil almost overnight. That night, ones' deepest dreams could come true but only if they allowed them to. The Council's dream was merely to reunite the three cities and perhaps they hoped that this festival would be a way to establish alliances between sensible leaders. The cities of Nureese and Anarab were invited into Genil and rather than taking the chance to make peace, they merely scouted out Genil for weaknesses. Long since have the echos of this eventful night faded. The Festival has come and gone, its memories left only in the hearts of those who attended it. Perhaps.. One day, Genil may see a time when the Festival will be held. Until then, the magic is gone.

Crystal disappears from the Elder Council as the whisperings of war and minor invasions of seedy characters from the Dark cities begin. Naturally, as the head of the 12 Elders disappears, the Council falls into shambles and fights between the hot headed first inhabitants begin. Though they work well as a team, they often have to be reminded of their purpose, such was Crystal’s job. Now with her disappearance official, the voice of reason gone, the government weakens. Taxes had also been run high on the citizens of Genil, making them impoverished, a failed final attempt of the Council’s to drive them away from the city before war collapsed upon them.
06/03/305
The combined forces of Nureese and Anarab attack the city of Genil, rupturing the walls and ransacking the White city. Shops are plundered as the military scrambles to attack and some citizens that don’t flee immediately are killed. Families are torn apart as the Darker cities have their way with Genil, some searching for a mystical rumor said to be in the Elders’ Palace, though few, if any, know precisely what they’re looking for. The Elder Council itself has no idea what this magic is or what it could mean for the city. The military stall the invading forces at this first battle before too much damage is taken and the city is not yet crippled. Shakingly, Genil regroups.
07/00/305-12/00/305
All members aside from Morrigan Aensland are lost, either separated by the war or fleeing to their own hiding spots. The military itself is weakening tremendously from the invasion of Anarab and Nureese and soon breaks apart. Those loyal to the White city remain and fight along side the remaining Elder until they are forced to retreat as well.

The final Elder is defeated, her wing ripped from her body in battle, becoming a trophy for a peculiar hunter from the Darker cities. The remaining forces are defeated as she falls, beautiful and broken, and Nureese and Anarab destroy most of what is left in Genil. Bodies can be found in the frozen river, their blood trapped beneath the frozen ice as activity hits a standstill in the White city. Beneath a blanket of snow and ice, the giant sleeps as most of the remaining members of the Legions of Strife return to their own well constructed cities.
02/23/306
The survivors of Genil drive the remaining forces out of the city. The only Elder left in the city is Morrigan, and she is branded a traitor and the people suspect her of allowing the Dark forces to get through. She stays in the city despite, but lays low. Minor reconstruction on homes begins as Genil licks its wounds for the remainder of the year.

Crystal Returns to Genil, but is rebuffed. The white city feels betrayed by the Elders and does not extend trust to them. There is a large fuss about her, and then she disappears into the obscurity of her household, broken. Morrigan watches nearby, but is not any more welcome. Most of the shops that are returning to Genil have been rebuilt and the community is tight knit, though crime is still a problem with no government in tact.

Kentaro returns and erects a temple to his goddess outside of Genil's borders, unwelcome in the city by the people. Though he is at first as shunned as everyone else, the angrier of the people of the White city begin to enjoy his preaching. The Temple of Fuliteach becomes popular with the still angry citizens of Genil and a bit of structure returns to the city as the military leader of the Elders’ council begins to take retribution into his own hands. Criminals are sacrificed at his goddess’ temple regularly and many with bad intentions begin to leave town. The city rebuilds even more, though some major establishments remain shattered, the Council lies dormant, scattered over miles upon miles, most members thought to be dead or wishing they were.

Finally in a mental state that is adequate to dive back into humanity, Crystal decides to rebuild, and she's going to stick to it this time, no matter what the people say behind her back. Kentaro sees her for the first time since they have both returned and they reunite in a bittersweet fashion. Morrigan loses her right eye in a fight with a demon and mysteriously goes missing a week or so afterward. Crystal is somehow pregnant and expecting sometime in June.
05/23/311
After the tragedy with Morrigan and her disappearance, the people of Genil are starting to realize that the Elders may not be any different than them. Crystal is recognized for guidance, and has taken hold of the reigns once more. The Council is beginning to reform, but is missing essential members. The whispers of the magic Genil holds begins, touching the souls of the first twelve, no matter where they are. Will this call remind them of their true home. After all, the first were the first for a reason, unbeknownst to them.Edited by: Sethron at: 7/6/07 10:18 pm
He, the leader of the Schism Saints, senses weakness growing in Genil with disappearance of Crystal. Somehow, news travels fast and the wheels are put into motion for the assault of Genil. The city of Nureese realizes its chance to take its pride back from Genil and gain control of the entire area by doing so.
03/00/305
The Month of the Prophets. Forty-three prophecies are given by Schism Saints, rallying together citizens of Nureese into a cohesive fighting force, vampires and other creatures alike. Three of the prophecies occur in Anarab by Schism Saints who travel there from Nureese, forging alliances with the organization there known as the Collection. Wonder and bloodlust bring the two cities together, though they stay wary of each other.
06/00/305
The Legions of Strife (Armies of Nureese) march on Genil with forces from Anarab, war begins. The first wave is destructive, but is repressed; however, the Legions continue to chip away at the exterior of Genil for several months.
11/00/305
Back at home, an attempted coup by humans to seize Nureese while the main force is away at war, is quashed, distrust of that race grows steeply within the Saints. Many humans are lost in the battle, but the forces of the gang stay strong with hardly any casualties. The humans are quieted and life in Nureese returns back to normal after the squabble.

Legions of Strife celebrate victory against Genil and ransack city. Most return home to Nureese and are hailed as heroes. Popularity of Schism Saints grows out of control, spreading to almost all citizens of the city. Those who do not favor the gang join merely for the protection of their families and loved ones.
02/23/306
Survivors of Genil drive out remainder of Legions of Strife, but they return home possessing much more than they left with. Questions are raised about the special interest item from Genil but little is known about it, it was obviously not discovered during the war, though it was looked for.

Month of the purge :: 71 Schism Saints were hailed as heroes of the war, some are executed by a single prophet to weed out the glory-seekers. There are heroes left, however, vampires and other creatures that weren’t alarming to Him and seemed dedicated to His cause. Those who keep their mouths shut and do not appear power hungry are left alone. Nureese continues to thrive after this time, their pockets full of Genilian gold. The War in Genil began. At the time, the citizens of Anarab were made up of the nomadic raiders who ruled the deserts with an iron hand, and the outcasts of Genil; mainly made up of those found guilty in Genil courts of various crimes. The majority of the raiders did not join the Nureesians in their war on Genil, but a couple hundred of the younger members did, eager to get their hands on riches or to make a name for themselves. Almost all of the citizens in the city however, wholeheartedly joined, having had a long-lived hatred for Genil and its citizens. If asked, a lot of the ‘Narabs would also claim a desire for loot being their main reason, but because of the viciousness and cruelty committed during the war, people usually didn’t believe them. It was never a secret how much ‘Narabs hated the free thinking, light loving people of Genil. At the core of this hatred was plain, old-fashioned jealousy… but no ‘Narab would ever admit that out loud. The Collection itself remained strong in ruling the city by force, keeping their own turf under control.
306
By the time the war ended, Genil had been completely demolished, and what citizens hadn’t been killed or enslaved, had escaped into the forests and foothills surrounding the city. With nothing to lay claim to, and preferring their own individual cities, the ‘Narabs and a handful of the Raiders returned to Anarab; the military leaders regarded as heroes.
308
A few of these heroes had been mysteriously assassinated, and no one quite sure who was responsible, but most suspected it had something to do with the rising power of the heroes against the Collection. Out of the slums of Anarab, a woman merely known as the Donia emerged; backed by some of Anarab’s most feared and skilled warriors, who were called Searchers. The Collection itself had been created long before the Donia stepped on to the scene, but her obvious involvement in the death of the heroes from the War in Genil threatened the long standing government. Luckily, the older government merely merged with its new leader without much of a fuss. There were three Collectors in all. The Donia ruled over all, but mainly kept to the central and most prosperous section of Anarab, preferring to give the Collectors their autonomy. The Collectors were her most trusted partners and advisors. Each Collector was responsible for their sections of Anarab, but only the Donia received dues while giving none back. Each Collector had their own favorites from the band of Searchers: These men and women pretty much enforced their Collector’s rules, and meted out punishments when needed. Under the Searchers were the Plebeians. These were mainly made up of street toughs and local businessmen and women. They provided services, collected dues, and backed up the Searchers when called upon. But mainly, they were the eyes and ears of the Searchers, and no one outside of the Collection knew they were Plebeians. This helped them to continually spy on visitors, newcomers, and their own fellow citizens.
311
The Collection completely rules the entire city in Anarab. Despite not having control over the Raiders, the nomads depended on so much trade from the city to survive that they obeyed the Collection’s rules, and showed no disrespect, despite most of them scoffing at an organization led by a woman. None would dare word anything out loud, but many a Raider dreamed of toppling the Donia, and then adding her to their harems, just to show her the proper place for a woman. Many of these virile nomads dreamed of this possibility, especially that of enslaving the Collection’s leader. For it is said that she is one of rare beauty, despite a cold, dead heart. But who can really trust rumors…?
[Jasmin, you'll see that your role has changed here a little. That was all I could do in order to keep it in order with the history I wrote, however, you have much the same position as earlier, only a little higher. Instead of merely being one of the three Collectors, you are the Donia, the boss of all three Collectors. PM me if you need to talk. -Crystal] Edited by: Sethron at: 7/6/07 10:56 pm
