Journey to Another Place 5/7/311
The young demoness lay floating on the cool surface of the beautiful river, sending small ripples across it's silver streaked top by slight twitches of her tail. The half moon shone regally, sitting in it's obsidian and ivory throne painting the world beneath it silver and magnificent. The prospect that she could float was an interesting one to her, as she would have thought her body would make it quite impossible, but water held more secrets than any eye could see. It had been long since she felt water's cool embrace as it contoured to her body. It made her feel at ease in this place a mystery that she inhabited. Suddenly, she dove deep beneath the surface, shattering the painting-like reflection into hundreds of tiny ripples, the sight like a magical realm waiting to be entered.

She focused on nothing but the sound of her own heart as it beat a timely rhythm in her ears, the world taking on a new and exotic appearance and sound underneath the blue oblivion. There was nothing else but her now inside her mind, leaving her unaware of anything else that surrounded her. If someone had come around, she would not have known until she surfaced.

Re: Journey to Another Place 5/7/311
A flash of light appeared on the bank. When it disappated, a single figure stood there, clad in a black cloak. He sat down, ignoring his surroundings. He held a single sword in his hands. It was about 6 feet long and one foot wide, made out of a strange golden metal. Symbols covered the blade of the sword. The sword disappeared, as if dissolving, into golden sparks.

Xero sighed, lowering his hood to reveal his face to the moonlight. His skin was an grim shade of black... the exact shade of his cloak. A fly landed on his blood-red hair, and he flicked it away, looking up at the moon.

His dark red eyes, the same color as his hair, gleamed in the soft light. Underneath his right eye, a golden rune glimmered on his skin. "What do I do now?" He murmured out loud, not realizing someone else was nearby. "It's been exactly one month since I found the Blade of Existence, and I've found none of the remaining Blades of Balance..." He said this almost too soft to be heard. "...Now I find myself drawn here subconciously, near the place I found the Blade of Existence. Is gathering my swords truly my purpose in this new world?"

She watched the moon from under the haze of blue and noted that it vaguely reminded her of a dream, like none of it was real although she knew all too well that it was. The soothing silence and only the faint sound of the drum within her chest could nearly lull her to sleep but she knew that wasn't such a good idea considering she would drown if she let herself go too far into her mind.

Finally, deciding to suface for some life-giving oxygen, she broke through and grasped the shore in front of her. All her awareness came flooding back into her brain and perfect clarity was again achieved. Then she noticed the living, breathing, being that had suddenly filled her sight. She stared at him, not quite frightened but wary and extremely interested though it didn't show. Rarely did she interact with anyone, knowing that her strange appearance may bring hostility even if she showed no hostile intent. She stayed mostly submerged not daring to move and not really sure what to do.

A small noise and scent drew his attention away from the moon he was staring at. Xero flicked away the fly that was STILL bugging him, and started sniffing to determine the scent. 'Some... strange creature. This is an unknown scent to me.... It's faint, diluted... something in the river?' He thought to himself. Xero turned his piercing gaze upon the river, scanning it's surface for whatever had suddenly appeared, at least, according to his senses. He spotted it at last, someone clutching at the river bank right in front of him.

Xero narrowed his eyes, staring piercingly and directly into the mostly submerged person's eyes. Finally, he sighed. "You can come out now. I don't fight for no reason, and I don't judge by appearance. After all, I'm scary enough in my own appearance." He chuckled, obviously referring to his black skin, red hair, and red eyes.

Cepheron watched him for a few seconds more and then slowly pulled herself out of the deep blue water. The cold water slid off her obsidian scales and dripped off the tip of her tail as she moved farther up on the shore. Stopping short of the new being that showed so suddenly, she analyzed him, her eyes travelling up and down his body. He was a strange one indeed but then again she certainly wasn't very normal either. It had been awhile since she saw another so close but although she wouldn't admit it or show it, it was rather a welcome sight.

Her violet eyes glinted almost crimson in the moonlight and there was an obvious curiosity within. "I was unaware that there was...anyone else here..." Cepheron spoke softly, not sure how to interact with this stranger.

"That makes two of us." Xero said, replying to her comment. He looked at her in curiousity. "...No offense, but I've never come across someone like you before. Because of that, I'm rather interested in exactly who you are..." Even in his own world, he hadn't seen someone like this before. "...However, I can reassure you that you certainly aren't the strangest-looking person I've met." Xero remembered the strangest thing... the Jrayethi.

Xero gave a small friendly smile, as he continued inwardly wondernig what she was. He'd never come across any creature that smelt that way before, even to his sharp senses, and there was a certain deadly grace that seemed to gather about her... She might be able to wield the Blade of Death, but it was still missing, so he couldn't test that fact.

Cepheron returned his smile tentatively, showing her vampire-like teeth. "I could not tell you what I am for I do not even know...but I can give you a name...it's...Cepheron..." She said softly, feeling much at ease knowing that at least this one was not going to jump at a chance to attack or anything else of that sort. Still, she did not let her guard down and kept all her senses alert as she learned in this world not all was what it seemed. All that was there at the moment however, was the gentle sounds of the night and the lapping of the water on the shore, a soft and soothing melody that could put even the most battle hardened warrior into a deep slumber if only of course they gave into the lull.

"Cepheron... that's a lovely name." He gave her a friendly smile, revealing that his canine teeth were also sharper than normal. "My name is Xero Raelthyw. You can call me Xero. I'm what's called a Dragolyth. Did you also die before entering this world, or were you born here?"

He figured it was an innocent question; pure and simple. Besides, if she also died, he could find out what type of world she came from. That, and if he stalled a bit longer, he could discover what was so familiar about her scent.

Xero cocked his head, listening to the lull of the water's melody, but not giving in completely to it. His mind had been in too much fighting to let him give in fully to anything.

A sudden darkness pervaded her very essence, showing completely in her eyes, as she was not one to hide her emotions. "I was torn from my own life..." She laughed bitterly, "Death did not come gently for me...perhaps I should feel lucky it was not my true end...but waking in a body not quite your own yet one you were somehow familiar with all along sure makes it seem like that other life was just a dream. For the life of me I still cannot fathom what it is that I am and have been all this time, before death, and beyond it." A distant expression happened upon her face as if she was recalling the past she tried to bury in the back of her mind.

"..." Xero examined her carefully, noting the expression in her eyes. "...This is a wound I cannot help with... Perhaps, though, I could discover how deep it runs. I cannot help heal mental scars. However, there have always been rumors that the mental powers of the Dragons passed down into the Dragolyth and Dragonians."

He paused. "We Dragolyth are half-dragon. If I even possess part of their telepathic capabilities, I may be able to discover how much of your mind is in the dark state I see in your eyes. However, before I even attempt to do so... I require your permission. I intrude not into another's personal thoughts."

He sighed. "Perhaps I was lucky... my death occurred during a great fight I was in. I destroyed my opponent, but in the fight I had sustained great wounds. Too weak to heal myself, I fell to the ground, dying. That... thing... had killed my family because of me. My last thought in that life... it seems more like another person now... was that the world was better without it and me there. Now... I find myself still around, and the cause of more trouble. Great swords, filled with powerful abilities, are now loose in this land for people of the correct qualities to find and pick up. If I hadn't been sent here, they wouldn't have been attached to my soul and brought here..."

(Is it just me or does it seem like we are the only ones doing anything as of late?)

Her attention snapped back to him. "What would you be looking for if you did delve into my mine? Perhaps a clue to my true origins...? Maybe you could find the identity of the person that killed me because I know he was not who he seemed...." She said softly. She rarely talked about her past and how she felt about it, but this showed promise and her curiosity got the better of her this time.

Cepheron stood in front of Xero and crouched down as much as her legs would allow, staring straight into his eyes. "I am not afraid..." the words were almost like a whisper in the air, and perhaps it was only in their minds but it had been heard. Not that she had true telepathic ability but if she tried hard enough, she could produce some sort of ability.

((It's not just you.))

Xero concentrated as he stared deep into her eyes. Nothing happened as far as he could tell. He concentrated harder, a vein pulsing in his forehead. Again, nothing happened. 'Wait...' He thought to himself. 'My father, Suthisryu, the shapeshifting dragon... he never seemed to concentrate... he merely relaxed.'

With that in mind, he simply relaxed, staring into Cepheron's eyes. His own eyes widened, and his pupils grwe extremely large. From his point of view, Cepheron's eyes started growing larger, covering his entire vision until his vision was gone completely.

Re: Journey to Another Place 5/7/311
A deepening inkiness descended upon their sight so, suffocating it was darkest the darkest ocean and suddenly bright spots appeared and began to take shape, color, and form. A picture came forth to the front of their minds and in one instant it was like they were there. Memories flashed lightning speed behind widened eyes, things that were not so important, things that madeno true impact, until one in particular took sharp clear color and slowed. A beautiful young girl, no more than 15 stood naked in front of her full length mirror. She had long black tresses, braided in one long plait down her back to keep it at bay and stunning emerald eyes. There was no doubt it was the holder of the memories. The eyes staring back withing the mirror appeared to widen and suddenly a disturbing image was in the mirror, watching with the same green eyes until the girl smashed the mirror with her own fist, her crimson blood filling in the cracks.

Everything sped up once again, only to slow on some things but not as much as that memory. A girl of 17 being harassed by some boys, they called her a freak and some other choice words. Her eyes flashed violet, and they ran as if they saw something with the stunning orbs. Memories of dreams passed by, strange creatures in all, some demonic, some almost divine, but nothing evil and suddenly, a another almost real time memory. The girl, now a women, was walking down a relatively deserted road in the middle of the night near what looked like a huge forest. It was obvious she had been hiking. A car came slowly with no lights turned on as to not be seen, and then in a flash sped up and shot forward. Before she could react, the car slammed into her body at full speed. Stunned, her vision swan and then she blacked out, her last thought that she was surely dead. In a matter of only a few minutes, she opened her eyes to a shining full moon. She stood, confused. There were no signs of any injury that she should have sustained. The gnawing in the back of her mind became more intense.

Memories flew by, days to months, finally to years. The meeting of the mysterious new man, and the transition to lover, finally the last few days of her short life. They were on top of a hotel roof, the woman and the man, just talking it seemed but there was an enigmatic look in the man's eye that the love blind woman did not notice. As they neared the edge, her back turned to him, a victorious expression fleetingly crossed his face. His appearance seemed to change and yet it looked the same. As they kissed, his hands moved up her body and applied slight pressure until she was over the edge, falling. A look that could not have been mistaken was on his face, a look that said "a job well done". It was then she say he had never been what he seemed, but it was too late as she fell to her imminent death, cold and cruel.

Xero felt as if he was unable to move as the memories flashed by him. He observed everything that occurred during the important slowed memories, and the others flashed by so that he only gained glimpses, and that even slipped out of his mind too fast for him to see.

Suddenly, he managed to let out a gasp, and he was in his own body again, blinking, feeling cold all over. "...ah..." He said, his mind still in hyper speed. "...Cepheron... Your memories... overwhelming..." He shook his head, trying to clear it.

No wonder dragons so rarely intruded into someone else's head... the flood of thoughts and memories inside someone had almost consumed him. As he recovered, he breathed hard. If he had been able, he'd have been in a cold sweat. "...Something saved you one night... you had been hit by some type of machine, but no injuries were there after you woke up."

He paused again. "...An earlier memory... you shattered a mirror when a strange image appeared in it... with your eyes." He was still breathing hard, but was more calm. "...I could not discover the identity of your murderer... only that you were in love with him and he threw you off of a tall structure."

He appeared to have finally regained his full composure. "...I believe that some sort of demonic spirit was inside you in your first life and that you were killed for it. However, when you were sent to this world, something changed. You somehow gained it's body... as to if that spirit is inside you, if I had seen anything like it, I might not have survived... I musn't try to use those powers again, my mind is not strong enough to survive such journeys..."

"My killer...I never really knew anything about him at all even if I was in love with him...it was like I was drawn into a trap...the only thing I really knew was that re didn't take stock in many material things and the biggest thing he had wsa something of a relic. It was a beautiful sword as enigmatic as he and seemed to glow whenever I was near...it's interesting he didn't decide to kill me with it. Perhaps he didn't want to stain it..." Cepheron said softly, standing up once again. The bitterness was still in her voice. Who can blame her when she was so brutally murdered with no real reason?

The journey into her mind did not seem to affect her at all physically but that might only have been because they were her memories inside her own mind and she had access to them indefinitly...or maybe it was because they stayed in her dreams and she could not be rid of her past or the image of his face.

"...Glow when you were near?" Xero paused, as if trying to place something. "...I know I've heard of something similar before, but it... escapes me." He looked at her sheepishly, as if trying to ask her something.

"...Have you possibly seen any... magical swords in this world recently? I'm... kind of in the middle of an important search, and there are still six left somewhere... should someone else learn how to use them, it would be trouble..." The rune underneath his right eye pulsed, and he held up a hand to it wonderingly.

Before he could get an answer, there was a large flash from the rune on his eye. "ARGH!" He let out a cry, holding up one hand to the burning rune. Underneath his left eye, a similar, yet different rune appeared. It was silver instead of golden, and was also pulsing. Golden and silver fire burned on each of the runes, and he collapsed to the ground, writhing.

Cepheron watched Xeron in bewilderment. Having someone suddenly start writhing and seizuring in front of you was quite unnatural and certainly alarming. She was not sure of what she could do considering she was never faced with this kind of dilemma before. Cepheron kneeled before him and watched him intently before deciding to say somethin.

"What is going on?" She asked hurriedly, and tried to shake him out of it knowing it probably was not going to make one bit of difference. She had seen the strange runes and it struck something inside of her, some kind of familiarity although the thought effectively eluded her grasp.

As quickly as Xero has started writhing in pain, he stopped. The runes on his cheeks glowed with their respective fires one last time, and then flared out, leaving a silver rune on his left cheek, a golden rune on his right. His black cloak started moving, as if in an unfelt wind. Above Xero, a figure floated down... completely black, body twisted and gnarled, horns on head, demonic wings growing out of it's back.

"So." The voice was deep, rasping. "It appears that in this world he did what he could not... his mind finally accepted the dark side of things." It paused more. "It appears that two others of the Balance Pantheon have arrived as well... my counterpart, and the God of Existence. Very well. I bestow my blade once more on this... Champion of Balance... the Blade of Death!" A black sword fell from the sky, blade imbedding itself in the ground next to Xero. Thin spines marked the edge of the blade, making it look like a kind of chainsaw.

"You. Touch the rune on his left cheek and he will wake up." The Balance God of Death paused, considering her. "...And point out the Blade of Death to him. I've never had a high estimate of his intelligence, though he has shown incredible luck with strategies." It disappeared.

Cepheron watched frozen and fascinated as the strange figure descended from what appeared out of nowhere. The creature reminded her of herself if only in the appearance of the body. The horns and the demonic look made her wonder if this was what she was but she could not be sure considering she knew no more about this creature than she knew about herself. He began to speak as if to himself although she knew it was more or less directed at Xero. It seemed to not notice her but she thought twice about that when the figure looked at her and began to speak once more. Just as suddenly as it came it disappeared leaving her alone with her newfound acquaintance.

She glanced around at his still body and the sword embedded in the ground. Wandering over to it, she gazed at it in wonder, tentatively reaching out to touch it with her fingers. It was smooth and seemingly very foreboding to her. She felt the spines of the blade, sharp enough to draw blood from her fingers. Cepheron studied her cut fingers and watched as her strangely colored blood, a thick metallic silvery substance drip slowly from the small wounds. She dismissed it uninterested and reached out with her other hand to touch the rune that the creature indicated on Xero's face, wondering how exactly it would wake him.

A... well, the best way to describe it would be a ripple, went through Xero's skin from the point of contact. Nothing about him had actually moved, but some distortion had gone throughout his whole body. A silver and golden flame hovered briefly over Xero's body, above Cepheron's hand, and then disappeared, doing no harm to anything.

Xero slowly came to, his eyes cracking open. Suddenly, he pushed himself into a sitting position, Cepheron's hand pushed out of the way. His eyes were locked firmly on the sword, and he tentatively raised one hand and touched a finger to the new rune on his cheek.

"Oh, no... not another one." He groaned, somehow recognizing the rune by touch, his fingers tracing it. "Another world... another rune... This time from the other side... Ah well. This needs to be put away for safe keeping..." He reached out a hand, stretching and grabbing the sword. He pulled it out of the ground easily, as if it was nothing more than part of his body. It dissolved into light as he willed it, disappearing.

Then, Xero noticed Cepheron's cuts. "...Let me guess. You touched the sword." He groaned. "That's going to take a while to heal no matter what powers you have... the Blade of Death cuts through anything made of matter in one slice and creates a repulsive force, pushing the edges of the cut apart from each other." He concentrated, and a glowing white sword appeared in his hands. A green light came down from the sword, heading to heal her cuts.

Re: Journey to Another Place 5/7/311
Watching the act of making the sword dissapate, Cepheron felt very intrigued. Although the feat of shapshifting was a great one, albeit a relatively unknown one, she always felt that the powers of others were much more interesting. As the current blade closed in on her wounds, the air rippled around her hand and made it change for a split second. It could have almost seemed to be a hallucination, but she quickly brought her hand down seeing the onyx scales upon it knit back together. The power of the blade seemed to react to her own power, if only slightly. She hoped that Xero didn't notice it too much.

"What was that figure that brought the sword...?" Cepheron asked curiously, wondering if she was somehow the same as it was although she hoped it was not so. To her it felt evil, and although she was often misunderstood, she was NOT evil, not in the least. Just somewhat solitary.
