Appearance: Sporting a sleek bob of short chestnut brown hair, cut precisely to frame her face in a sharp, angular style, Sydney is a no-nonsense woman. The texture of her brown locks is incredibly smooth despite the heat in Anarab, though the strands do tend to get lighter streaks in them when she is out in the sun for long periods of time. The hotel owners eyes are a peculiar shade of green, close to that in both shade and sheen to a perfectly crafted emerald. Anger though, makes the usually serious eyes flash with anger and harden almost instantly. Framing the wide eyes are two sets of lush lashes, almost too long to be believable. Sydney believes this is because she’s sworn off makeup entirely and considers it a substance made only to make women feel less than what they really are. No one should have to hide behind a mask to feel beautiful. The business oriented lady is thin, almost too thin sometimes despite her attempts to keep weight on her petite body. Her height only makes her seem more gaunt often-times, an average five foot six inches, with heels.
Wideset eyes travel down into a pert, almost upturned nose. Any sharper of an angle, and she would have appeared snub nosed. High cheek bones and full lips give her an almost too full look, if her features were skewed in any other way, she would have had an unpleasant appearance. However, the various combinations of flesh and bone create a pleasant, if not beautiful façade. Sydney isn’t often an eye turner, preferring to turn heads only if she’s raging in anger at someone over something.
Her clothing usually accentuates her tanned skin, changing daily but always revealing bare shoulders and back, as well as legs. The weather in Anarab doesn’t allow for more clothing to be put on, usually causing heatstroke or other mal-effects. Sydney prefers though, with her limited style ranges, to always wear upscale clothing with dainty heels if the outfit so calls. Anarab might freeze over if anyone ever saw her as anything less than impeccably groomed. Her appearance is almost always topped off with dark glasses if she’s outside, and sometimes, even if she isn’t!
Personality: Sydney can most often be described as strong, bold, and decisive, her actions almost always speaking louder than her words. Then again, her words can be brutally honestly, sometimes too blunt to those who need comforting. When she truly tries, she can be caring, but if it requires putting herself into a self-compromising position, all bets are off. She is haughty from time to time, but an idealist that believes in a better world over all. Quick to rise in anger, her temper is easily activated and ignited. It is because of this character flaw that she has to be quick witted and think on her feet. Apologies don’t come easily from the woman, most have to be drug out with sharp objects. Sydney also beings to build a brick wall the moment she is confronted with something she doesn’t want to hear, especially criticism about her ways and her opinions. Her pride in herself is strong and deep rooted, often motivating her to do what’s right, or at least what she thinks is right. Another characteristic of this woman is the fact that she is truly too kind hearted to pull the trigger, even for the common good. Because of this, she keeps her Collector father’s true identity a secret and denies all involvement with the organization. Never truly truthful with anyone, Sydney lives under an assumed name. Then again, she’s been living this way for a long time and she’s more Syd than she is anyone else.
Biography: Sydney was born the daughter of a Collector, one of the three in the Collection. Though she grew up knowing slightly what the title meant, as time drug on, she began to realize that he was bringing terror to the people of Anarab in a way she simply couldn’t condone. After her mother’s death, she told him calmly that while she respected his choices in life, she simply couldn’t be his daughter any longer. She pitied him for being so weak as to demand power when a true leader only needed to ask for it. Though she moved out of the empty family home, she assumed a different name and identity all together, protecting his by doing so. While she would love to give up on him entirely, the wonderful, bittersweet memories of her childhood are enough to keep her hoping for a future when they can be a family instead of estranged from one another.
Syd intends to oppose the Collection and its new, strange leader when the time is right. She desires to find a position as the ring leader of an organization with the power to overthrow the current government. Anything has to be better than the fear these people live in from day to day, no longer trusting the Collection that kept them under their thumbs for so long. The Collection had been greedy, but never had they simply been cruel. Sydney believes in one day establishing a tyranny with a kind leader, someone powerful enough to take the reigns, but humane enough to look outside his or herself for the truth.
The young woman spends most of her days managing the Island Oasis Hotel in Anarab, earning a decent salary by her standards and a fortune by the standards of many others. She prefers to keep a high class living style and inhabits the penthouse floor of the hotel. The hotel itself came to her as an investment that was willed to her and was destined to be hers when she hit twenty one. Covertly, she listens through bugging devices in each of the rooms for the hint of an organization that will one day attempt to rise against the Collection, and the Collectors themselves know they are unwanted in this place, and out of respect for their counterpart, stay away.
