Character's name: Koltana
Age Upon Entering/At Death:
Age Now:
Race:
Appearance:
Slender and tall, he bears a whimsical appearance. Much like the elves of Earth's legends, Koltana is fragile and beautiful; every bit of his person seems to be perfectly crafted--an exquisite work of art with skin the color of deep, rich carmel without a flaw on it. A twisting, black, tribal tattoo dances from the top of his hips up to the base of his neck, spreading over his shoulder blades. Koltana's eyes are mismatched, one black and the other sapphire, but both seem to draw in the light from the world alround them.. and some venture to say that you could lose your world in these eyes.
His hair is white as the purest snow, and though the people of Genil would remember it caressing his hips, it now barely brushes the tops of his shoulders when hanging down flat around his face. His fingernails are the color of pearls, his ears long and swept back to sharp tips.
Often his chest is wrapped in a fine velvet half-top, with sleeves of loose mesh and lacework in the design of thorn-covered rose vines. Riding low on his hips is what appears to be a long, flowing skirt because the pants are so loose, while in truth they are not unlike the Japanese Hakama--the cloth so loose and flowing that it becomes indistinguishable as two seperate pantlegs. The purple material used to make it is so dark that the color itself is gone until the moonlight catches it just so.
Gold rings cover his fingers and climb the cleft of his ear, and around his neck hangs a solid gold torque with a bright red-star diamond in the center.
Personality:
Koltana is a kind, generous, soft-spoken individual with a love for life, nature, and the well-being of others. Almost never have people heard him raise his voice..
A soft smile always seems present on his lips and he cares greatly for equality, though to some outsiders to his culture, they may not interpret his thoughts as such. He is a firm believer in working with your strengths and showing who you are through those strengths. "Trying to be something you are not will only bring hardships on yourself that could otherwise be avoided. Why worry about things that were not meant for you?" This isn't to be confused with an order to give up on what you believe you can accomplish or enjoy just because you are not good at it--his culture just speaks in riddles; or so he's learned to excuse himself through.
He believes in leading people to lead themselves--always believing in the good nature in others.
But heaven help the one who finally breaks his gentleness, for a stream of grief and anger rages deep within him waiting to be set free... to right the wrongs done unto him and the peace and harmony he has tried to grow.... not only in the world around him, but in himself.
Biography:
Koltana was born in a world filled with many strange and unique species, but not all were as long lived as his people. So it seemed only fitting that those who made plans that spanned centuries should rule... Koltana's family was the royal family. Prince of the twelfth generation, he was the seventh son of a seventh son, which meant his magical potential was phenomenal, even for his already greatly magically gifted people. However, in his infancy, he was struck with a terrible illness that was sure to claim his life, so, doing the only thing she could think of, his mother sacrificed herself to a spirit who took up residence in Koltana's soul in return for saving his life.
As he grew, he and the spirit grew to be one and the same. What his mother never could have known was that the spirit that she had contracted was a spirit of strife. It caused, in his early years, Koltana to be very violent and arrogant. He was on the verge of being outcast from the kingdom when he met Mirium... she was everything Koltana had never known growing up: compassionate, forgiving, and infinitely patient. She and her soft voice quieted the angry spirit in Koltana--for the first time, he knew peace. Shortly after, he became a model citizen, always seeking to help others, but always fearing that the molevolent beast inside of him would break free...
After several centuries of training and reassurance from Mirium, he grew free of worry and even fell in love with a young man named Antasen... But while Mirium had been helping him, a piece of the spirit had found its way into her. Jealous of the attention Koltana was giving to his new beau, the spirit, for one moment, and one moment only, was able to grip Mirium's heart. That moment was all it needed to have her poison Koltana.
That night, he drifted off to sleep, and woke up in a strange new world--which would seem was one of the many afterlifes, where only seven other beings had arrived before him. They, and the four who followed after him aspired to create a city in this new world; it would be called Genil, the White City. He would play the part of architect, and one of the council of elders.
Everything seemed to be right, until the war came....
And for the better part of it, he stayed and fought. That was, until month four, when he broke. The spirit was set free, and he slaughtered everything around him: friend and foe, in that moment... but once he was spent, and he saw what he had done...
He fled Genil.
He gave up everything and ran, with no intention of ever returning.
