Chance
Pic:
Name: Chance
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Race: Human

Appearance: Chance is young a pretty. She has dark brown eyes and black hair. She has very fair skin and an almost porcelain coloured face. She stands at just over 5ft tall and weighs in at only 95lbs. Her style is almost medieval, with a twist. She is almost invariably barefoot as she hates shoes and boots. She will wear sandals if she has to. Her long hair is normally left free down her back with a side parting that covers half her face most of the time. Though her eyes are a warm colour, they are far from it. A look can chill the bone.

Personality: Chance is cold and distant. She hates emotional involvment with anything and anyone and doesn't know how to interaact with people that way. When angered, she is calculating and patient, taking her revenge with precise and deadly intent. She prefers her own company, or that of her hound, Avanguard. Very few people can tolerate her distant nature.

Defining Features: The length and breadth of Chance's back is a miriad of scars set in a weird geometric pattern that few can understand. To look at one way, one may see an intricate pattern of celtic knotwork. To look another way and one may see years of abuse. She has several piercings in her right ear from the lobe right up the cartilage and round to the inner ear. Her left ear is much the same, but there are not so many, only perhaps four or five.

History: To hear her speak of it, one may be led to believe she was born a fully grown woman with no family or past. This however, is utterly incorrect. And Chance was not always her name either. She didn't hold the name Chance until she was almost 12.
She was born Jeanea Lucrezza DelMarin and she was the fourth and last child, and only daughter of Lord and Lady Marcus DelMarin, a family of land barons that controlled much of the trade in the country of Serin. Her three older brothers never liked her from the moment she took her first breath and rightly so too, for as hard as they might try, her father looked upon her as the jewel of the family. By the time she reached 5, her brothers had already made a dozen attempts on her life, trying to rid themselves of this troublesome girl that would steal away their fortunes.
Janea was a girl in a land controlled solely by men. Women were not citizens, they were no better than th slaves the men kept. The only difference being that women were worth a few hundred more than the average slave. A fact she was soon to learn and understand.
Janea's father decided that he would give his fortune to his daughter after all and would change his will on her 13th birthday when she would be betrothed to the suitor of his choice. Janea was clearly overjoyed, not yet understanding the damage it would cause. Her mother agreed with her father about this and so the family set to sorting out the hefty legal matters surrounding such a transaction. Her older brothers were so obviously livid with the idea. Their father's fortune was theirs, to be shared amongst them on his death. They were left with only two choices. Finally succeed in killing their sister, or murder their father. They chose the latter.
Lord Marcus died of under suspicious circumstances two days before Janea's 13th birthday. On that birthday no less, the brothers inherited their father's fortune and began to plot their revenge on their sister for so many years of neglect they believed to have suffered at her favouritism.
Firstly, their mother was stripped of her standing and wealth. She was made a slave in her own home, serving her sons with the rest of the household slaves. Their cruelty would lead the old woman to kill herself later that same year.
As for Janea, she was dealt the worst fate of all. The day after the brothers had claimed their inheritance, she had been locked away in the home's cellar like a rat. Her brothers had each taken their turn once a day to whip her and beat her into unconsciousness. She resigned herself to a life of darkness and pain. When her mother died, the brothers decided to make a little extra money. After over a year spent in the cellar, Janea was dragged into the local market and sold as an untrained slave. It would take her another four years to escape and gain her vengeance.

4 years later......
Dressed in the fine silks of a Lady, Janea had a new name and a new identity. After the first torturous year in bonds, Janea discovered she had a talent for that of a pleasure slave. A specific kind of slavery that dealt with the pleasures of men. Discovering this, she had thrown herself headlong into her training, learning all she could to better her place and stop the beatings and torture. This sudden change in her persepctive and mindset gave cause for her Master to change her name. He called her Chance, for that was what she did. She chanced everything in order to better her own life. It was to this end that she eventually bought her own freedom. That very same day, she murdered the Master and stole every last penny she could find on him. It bought her a new life and a new destiny. Vengeance.
What she didn't bank on was the reception she got when she finally arrived at her old home. Her brothers had no clue who she was. They had forgotten her entirely. Only the family pet remembered her. Avanguard. A massive hound of hellish proportions. After Marybeth's removal, the hound had been banished to the back yard and chained up, forgotten just like her. The only reason he stilled lived was for a diet of foolish slaves that would come a little too close.
Chance was received into the old manor house as a woman of growing welath, unmarried and the perfect betrothal to the oldest of the brothers. Chance saw her chance.
Within a week, she had killed the two youngest brothers and was now working on the third, but he had grown wise to her now and secretly plotted on his own. Over dinner, Chance secretly poisoned her brother's wine. She waited for him to drink it and told him the truth of who she was and why she was there. She tld him with such coldness and distant hatred that the brother hesitated. The poison was already killing him and so decided to take her with him. He flung the small dining table aside and stabbed her with his own steak nife.
They died in each other's arms.
Then, by some miracle, Chance awoke again, but not where she had died. She was somewhere new. She couldn't understand it. Where was the body of her brother? Chance had awoken in the other realm. A place of lost souls that her mother had once told her in farytale and myth.........
