It reminded him so much of Hoth and yet so much more of other things. Especially since it had an indigenous species that was actually intelligent whereas Hoth did not. That indigenous group of people was also compensated with Humans that had migrated in from across the galaxy. Polus made a prime target for Imperial takeover.
The Imperial-class Star Destroyer Mk. III Anon floated above the planet, no other ships having come with it. The Imperial fleet was tied up almost everywhere else as it was and Terran only had his flag ship for the moment. Not that it mattered. Star Destroyers were designed for planetary takeover.
"Low orbit achieved, Admiral."
Terran nodded his head in response to this new bit of news before turning his attention towards the ships Captain.
"Commence bombardment of the planet. I want to soften it up for a few days before we attack. This foe is too entrenched."
"Yes, sir."
And so it began, the Captain barking orders to the crew as fighters swarmed outside of the capital ship. With sudden jerk, energy lanced down from the ship towards the frozen world below and in the general direction of the shielded cities that adorned it. It wouldn't be long before the Empire returned to it's former glory, and with the Outer Rim under Terran's control it would make things much easier...

"New news from the Outer Rim. Polus has come under attack by that same Star Destroyer from Tatooine."
"They just can't take a hint can they? I beat them at Tatooine and I'll beat them again. How long ago was this?"
"They started bombarding a few hours ago, I believe."
"They're bombarding an ice planet?"
"That's what the report says."
"Interesting tactic... Maybe this Imperial Admiral isn't so stupid after all. Ok, here's the deal. I'm going out there to try and fight them off, but I want to take Rusty's apprentice Myva with me. She can help and get some field experience in the process. Go deliver a message to her telling her to meet me in the hangar."
"Sure thing."
And off ran the young diplomat from Corellia, Kamon's homeworld, to deliver a message to a Jedi Padawan. Such was the way of things when Kamon was around, always making different things happen. Kamon was the youngest Jedi Master ever, but it didn't stop him from being a little cocky and arrogant every once in a while. Nothing could stop a Corellian from that.
There wasn't anything Kamon needed from his room, he didn't have much to begin with. All he had on was necessary. So he walked down the hall in his white robes, two silver handled lightsabers clipped to his belt and his dirty blonde hair bobbing on top of his head. His destination, which he reached with haste, was the hangar. Once inside, he made his way towards an old Corellian freighter, sat down, and waited.
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
"Me? Somebody actually wants me...to go on a mission with them? After my embarassing debut durring the Coruscant skirmish?"
The messenger nodded, which made the young woman frown even more, a hand reaching upwards to scratch her hat-covered head in puzzlement.
It was at this point the same messenger continued with the message he was asked to deliver, then turned to walk away from her, which killed off any chances to protest this even further. All she could do at this point was to grab her coat from her room and head down to where he said the originator of the message had told her to meet him, which was in the hangar, just managing to button it up just where she liked it as she entered the massive space.
" I sure hope I don't fly this time." she murmured quietly.

Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
Kamon sat quietly upon the loading ramp of the Corellian YT-1300 freighter, his white robes glistening in the light of the hangar inside the temple. His head was bowed and his crown was pointed in the direction of Myva even as she walked into the room. Knowing she was there by feeling her through the Force was enough for him. Her words even made it to his ears which brought on a smile.
"No.. you won't be piloting, Myva. I will be flying us to Corellia."
Lifting his gaze, he let his blue eyes rest upon the Jedi Apprentice as she was walking near him. Rusty would probably get mad at him for taking her along, but Kamon could care less what the old coot said. Just the thought of him being an old coot made him laugh inside of his head. Rusty would definately hurt him for that.
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
The voice that answered her caused Myva to turn her gaze over towards the man whom was sitting quietly upon the boarding ramp, his robes an interesting contrast in color to her own choice of outfit, which pretty much hadn't changed upon arriving on Coruscant not too long ago. It would probably take a thermal detonator to make her change what she wore, and that suited Myva just fine, for it was something she felt the most comfortable in.
Her smile, she wasn't aware of doing, something that responded to the one she had seen upon his face.
"The stranger whom saved me from becoming one with stars." She replied.

"One and the same."
He smiled up at her before rising from his seat upon the loading ramp. Taking a step towards her, he couldn't help but glance over her. The choice of clothing was a bit interesting and a definate contrast to his own white robes. But to each his, or her, own.
"I am Jedi Master Kamon Vondiranach. If you had forgetten," he said with a chuckle. "I want you to come with me on a mission to the Outer Rim."
Being only twenty two, he couldn't help but feel attracted to the young woman who stood in front of him. But he pushed that to the side because he didn't even know her. He knew her name, and that she was Rusty's apprentice, but that was it. He did know, though, that the Force had told him to have her come with him.
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
He was the first pilot whom found the stranded jedi apprentice from the Coruscant battle, that much she could tell for certain from the sound of his voice, a gentleman without the other jedi master present to draw each other into heated discussions with as well, to the point that maybe he was a diplomat...or, one of those crazy, yet charming Corellians.
Most men she'd politely tune out, but this time Myva didn't. Now she had a name with the voice, a man with both...and if she chose to join him, he was also in charge of the mission. So much for letting herself ignore him, at any rate.
Thank goodness for her doodling diversions...for she had the feeling she'd be needing them on a more recreational level on this trip.

"Twisted perhaps.. But the Force knows what is right and that's all that matters."
She was different for some reason. Good different, but different nonetheless and he couldn't help but want to have her come along with. That and the Force had told him to have her come along. Regardless, he knew she would come along because the Force could not tell a lie.
So, he turned around away from her and walked to the top of the loading ramp, pausing there for a moment. Glancing back down the ramp, he could only see her feet, but it at least told him she was still there.
"Come along... We're visiting my homeworld first."
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed) And all I need to learn is how to more fully trust it... Myva thought to herself as she followed the jedi master up the boarding ramp without question, without any hesitation on her part. She couldn't put a finger on the reason why as of yet, but all answers come to those who wait patiently....or so it seemed.
"So...what's this place like...your homeworld? I've traveled for so long, that I don't even remember mine anymore."

Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
Walking along the corridors through the ship, he led Myva towards the cockpit which was quite cramped but had enough room for them. He sat down in the pilot seat and began to go through the pre-flight warm-up. Her question didn't strike him as odd in the least bit. It had been a long time since he had seen his home as well.
"I'm from Corellia. And yes, that makes me a Corellian flyboy as they sometimes call us. I get cocky sometimes and I never want to hear anything about odds."
He couldn't help but chuckle at this, continuing the warm up process.
"We'll be going to Coronet City which is basically a miniature Coruscant. But the planet also has forests and fields and streams... It's a beautiful planet."
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
Myva's smile faded, her gaze turning downwards as he told her a little bit about his home, fiddling with the cuffs on her jacket.
"Home sounds wonderful. For me, the past few years have been a blur, the only real stability comming only recently, when I arrived on Coruscant in the first place. I don't even recall what other places I've been too."

"Well, that certainly cannot be a good thing. Though it is good you came here. Rusty is a good Master and I'm sure he's taught you well. Plus, the Jedi are actually liked on Coruscant. That's not exactly true elsewhere," he said, turning his gaze towards her for a moment with a stern look before looking back to the controls.
With the flick of a few more switches, he called up for clearance to take off and received. Seconds later, the old YT freighter rose from the floor of the hangar and hovered for a few moments before he gently pushed her forward out of the hangar and into the air of Coruscant.
Only moments later they were plowing through the space while he put in the coordinates to get them where they were going. After looking to make sure she was ready, he engaged the hyperdrive and off they shot into the whiteness of hyperspace. He sat back and turned his head to look at her.
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
Myva didn't say much for a few moments, as she observed Kamon preparing the ship for takeoff, and soon after, hyperspace. Hearing the question, her gaze met his for a moment, before pulling away to watch the white blur that was hyperspace.
"Coruscant skirmish was it so far." Myva replied, not even aware of how depressed she appeared at all.

WIth a frown on his face, Kamon looked away from Myva and back towards the control panel, allowing his gaze to rest on the instruments there. Her appearance wasn't lost to him and it honeslt made him a bit sad for her. The fact that she wore dark clothing just made it worse for her, pointing out her state even more rapidly. It was like a beacon for his eyes to see.
"You'll see what the real world is like soon enough. We're going to Polus in the outer rim after we stop at Corellia. Polus is being invaded by the Empire's newest Admiral and rumor has it there may be a sith involved."
Turning his head back towards her, he let his gaze settle upon her.
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
Myva was so accustomed to being invisible, to blending in to the point where she practically didn't exist even within massive crowds of people. Her own self-imposed exile kept her alive, but it kept her alone, and kept her from trusting anybody. Somehow, even he, a man whom she barely knew beyond the few words that were exchanged, instinctively knew it.
Her gaze flickered back over to the one whom had spoken it, and sighed at first, showing that she had troubles even formulating an answer that would satisfy the both of them.
"You know...you're the only one in my entire life who's asked me that very question, and I don't know how to answer it."

"When I have a question I can't answer," Kamon begins before standing and walking to a storage bin. "I go to the one thing that helps me to understand." Reaching inside the bin, he pulled out a stuffed image of a krayt dragon and walked back to Myva holding it out to her. "It makes me seem like a little kid, but it works."
He stood there before her, looking at her with his hand holding out the stuffed animal. She was cute in her own way, the dark clothing and her demeanour not affecting that. He wanted to know her better, but that's why they were going on a mission together. Kamon needed to formulate new bonds with the rest of the Jedi.
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
Myva looked at him, dumbfounded, tears stinging in her eyes as she watched him stand up from the pilot's seat, her fingers unfastening the safety harness so she could follow him and find out just what in the world he was up to, only to find him turn back to her, a stuffed toy in his hands, overwelmingly large, like those kind one could win in a carnival game.
A tiny, confused smile flickered and died on her face, looking up at him in wonder, as shakey fingers accepted the krayat dragon with the bright orange wings and goofy eyeballs, holding it close to her chest as if it was the one thing that could keep her from drowning completely as she sank back into her chair, the toy being the only color that contrasted from the black of her coat, and the paleness of her cheeks as she snuggled up to the dragon's snout like a little kid, tears finally escaping as she sat there, pulling her feet up to add to the image of that lost, lonely little girl.
"I guess that...I was so afraid of losing anybody that....I'd push myself away...I hate it. I see things happen before they actually do....and it scares me. I'd avoid people...just to avoid the feeling of loss in the first place and became...invisible to anybody around me..."

"Myva... I don't want to make you feel bad... But did you ever think that maybe you could change these things and keep them from happening?"
His words were gentle and calm, not conveying any malice in his tone at all. They were just words trying to help her to understand. She was young as far as knowledge of the Force went and it was his responsibility to help mold her and to help her.
"Myva you have a great power. Yes, it likely overwhelms you constantly, and I can understand that. But your power was given to you for a reason. The Force wants you to use it."
He shakes his head with a smile appearing on his lips.
"And listen... you can't be happy all alone. I can see it in your face. It makes you sad and depressed. And I intend to help you by being your friend. You can trust me, and you can count on me."
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
Myva didn't appear threatening at all, let alone look like a young woman as her dark green eyes were peaking over the stuffed draggon's snout, still like that little kid with a stuffed animal so huge, that she practically dissapeared behind it.
She never thought of using her gifts like that before, for Myva was always caught up in the pain of loss resulting for forseeing another person's fate unfolding. Nobody ever told her to think of it that way, not even her own teacher. All he told her was to try and take comfort in the fact they were returning to the force. Interesting way of putting it, but it never felt like it was enough of a reasurance for her.
Myva set the two on the floor next to her, her fingers caressing the soft, fake fur, a tiny smile creasing her lips as she looked back up at Kamon.

"And you don't have to be. Not ever again."
He watched her with the giant stuffed animal. It looked like she found comfort with it and he couldn't help but smile at this. Her tears had fallen lightly upon it, but he didn't mind. For many years he had cried while holding the toy as well. Various reasons during his young age away from his parents had left him to crying.
"I want you to know that if you ever need anything, a friend to talk to, a shoulder to lean on, you can come to me. I'll always have time for you."
They hyperdrive beeped to alert them that they were five minutes from reverting to real space. He glanced towards the console before looking back to Myva.
Re: The Outer Rim Sieges(closed)
Her only hope that he was right, that the promises he was making wouldn't be broken due to fate finally paying him a visit. Strangely enough, such thoughts would lead her back to needing the stuffed animal again, this time it was different. She had hope in the first time in a long time, somebody who truely gave a damn, and a friend.
That kept her smiling even as she flinched slightly upon hearing the alarm that warned them of the eventual reversion to real-space, for the moment where they'd have to cut out the hyperspace engines and revert to the sublight ones...the blur of white turning back into the stars that they were meant to be.
The promise of him always being there echoed through her mind as she turned, and buckled herself back into her safety harness, her booted feet once again touching the cool deck of the ship.
"So...what do we hope to find on Corellia?" Myva asked with a warm smile, her hand scratching her hat-covered head in a sub-conscious sign of awkwardness.
