6 - 7 footers? I'm be afraid to do that, especially since I knock rails down on 4 1/2 footers already, lol.
Jumping without stirrups is fun... this calls for a true story...
I was riding Strawberry(a horse I previously owned until I had to sell her ) about 2 years ago, and we were jumping over a 2 foot jump when my mom asked me to try to jump without stirrups. Well, Strawberry was a very well behaved mare, but she could be very stubborn if not all the equipment was on, or on right. So, I took of the stirrups, and headed her towards the jump. All was going great; she went over the jump(although, she kind of refused before the jump), and as soon as she landed, she planted her hooves in the ground, catching me off guard.
I flew WAY above her head, and fell on my stomache on the ground. Lol.

I ride English, and I jump 3 feet (6-7!! You've gotta be kidding me!). Speaking of spill stories...
About a month ago, I was riding this physco pony, as a favor for my friend. Woody, the pony, is this really fast and bouncy pony that I usually hate to ride, but I figured I had to ride him since my friend had exercised my horse the week before. So, I was doing this jump course, and Woody rushed to the first jump and I was trying to circle, but he unfortunately had the bit in his teeth. (Thinking back, it must have been quite a site. A tiny bay pony rushing towards a fence with the bit in his teeth and me grabbing his mane for dear life. ) He took off for the jump about three feet early, and didn't make it over. He stumbled and I was holding onto the pommel of the saddle with both feet out of the stirrups and on the sitting sideways. Eventually I had the sense to let go, and Woody ran around the arena a million times (Okay, so I'm exaggerating...), before deciding he would rather eat the grass surrounding the arena. I caught him about 10 minutes later. It was quite an eventful day, and each time I think about I thank God no one was hurt. And, ironically, this pony's name was Knock On Wood. I don't think he's ever proved to be good luck, he's often the opposite.
But, anyhow. I've also ridden Western before, but I rode it incredibly fun. And it was much easier to sit to the trot in that saddle.
