"it is you'll love it here" Sherray informed her then mounted Periwinkle and started riding him towards the track seeing 3 other riders she turned and called out to carley.
"Do you want me to have him with the others after I warm him up?" you know how competive peri can be and I wouldn't want to tire him out.." sherray paused " When is the race again?" she asked a slight blush apearing on her cheeks.Sherray could be very forgetful.

Carley shook her head. "Work him alone. They're going to get moving." She laughed. "The race is next week. Hey, and Sherray, please don't forget how to ride." She winked.
"Now warm him up."

Sherray laughed good naturedly and began warming him up. She moved him into the trot and after she felt he was ready to canter .She signaled for the faster gait.Periwinkle tossed his head and let out a snort eagerly .

Re: Dark Lilac Farm [pg 13]* Caryn carefully made her way to the tack room to gather up Ms. Goth's tack and take her out on the track. Ms. Goth may be young but the one thing she loved was being saddled and ridden. Today all Caryn wanted to do was get her used to the track for later longer rides. She then noticed that the new jockey her parents had hired just recently was wandering around the barns with nothing to do so she walked up to the girl. If her luck held the new girl wouldn't recognize her as the owners' daughter and she and the new girl could get to know each other and be good friends.*
"Hey, aren't you new here? If you want to you can ride Gleaming Ebony. She's the black down there at the end of the row, but I have to warn you Ebony has a soft mouth and is whip-shy so you'd better go easy on her. If you do want to ride her just let her set her own pace for 6 furlongs after you trot her for a mile." Caryn said giving the new girl a friendly smile before she left to groom Ms. Goth with Ms. Gith's tack balenced on her left arm. "Oh and to answer your question the new stallion's name is Shimmering Coal and I hope you will visit him often I think he needs a friend whose new to the farm like he is." Caryn called over her shoulder before she entered Ms. Goth's stall.

Hi, Um Ok" She said laughing. Then tacking up the black fily then heading to the track she went over to the Trainer and asked "What do you want me to do with Ebony"?

Carley looked at her. "I didn't know that you'd be riding today," she said evenly. "But, trot her to warm her up and then breeze her for six furlongs. She has a soft mouth. She'll get testy and buck you off if you pull or are too harsh. And trust me ... she'll get you off."

"Well the owners daughter said I could so why not, Ok I get it she has a very soft mouth that shouldn't be a problem but just in case I will be pretty easy on the mouth" She said hopping up and pushing her into a slow smooth trot. The trainer didnt seem to be very friendly but who cares.

After Serray took Periwinkled through her paces and she was warmed up . She looked at Carly opening her mouth to say something but looking at the slightly annoyed expression on her face she closed her mouth deciding it wouldn't hurt to warm peri up a little more.

Carley nodded at Andrea. "Yep," she said. She offered a small smile. She turned to Sherray and nodded. "Go ahead!" she called out to her.
She watched as a different ride rode off the track and hopped down from the horse. "How was he?" asked him.
He nodded and swung on his next mount. "Still lame." And rode away.

Sherray nodded and brought periwinkle out to the track when Carley told her to go ahead she went out.Slowly just as the terainer had asked. Periwinkle fought for the bit as she saw the point were Carley had told her to let him loose she did Periwinkle let out a neigh of satisfaction .The thoughoughbred long legs ate up the track when she reached the end she pulled him down to a trot then a walk "so?" she asked biting her lip as she patted the horses neck

When she was finished Warming up Ebony Andrea readied herself for a blast from the black filly, and when she asked for it Andrea got what she asked for. The black filly became a speeding blur, her mane whipped back as she stretched farther and farther out. Smiling Andrea noticed that the filly had lots of detmernination and speed, she would love ridingher.

Carley stepped up to the blue roan colt, frowning. She placed a hand on her neck. "Well," she said, "he didn't run as good as I had hoped. But, he ran good enough. I think you need to push him along first, then hold him back and let the other horses get in front of him and then let him go. Did he feel sluggish?"
As she talked to Sherray, she looked over at Andrea and smiled to herself. The filly looked good. She turned back to Sherray and the colt, taking his reins so Sherray could dismount.
She smiled. "We've got a new colt that I want you to try," she told the jockey, still waiting for an answer for her qeustion. "He had lots of power and his stride is so smooth and long. You'll love him."

As they filly almost finished her breeze she noticed her stride and speed picked up. Racing across the finish Andrea shot a smile to the rail and laughed wildly. PAtting Ebony's soft neck she laughed agian then brought the filly to a complete stop infront of Sherray.
"Wow this filly is awesome, what was our time" She said beaming.

Carley flushed red. "I, uh, didn't take it," she said. "I'm sorry. But I assume you know that you were going very fast?"

Carley studied Andrea for a moment, and then the horse. "Well," she replied, "I really don't know. We were thinking about it, but it's up to the owner's if they want to race her in it. I'm only the trainer; I don't have the last say. But I can have the last suggestion." She winked.

"Well if the owners know anything about horses which I bet they do then they must know what kind of talent" Andrea laughed wrapping her arms around the fillys soft neck.

Carley was taken aback by her statement. She had known the family who owned the farm for years! In fact, they built her and her children their own home.
"Excuse me," she replied sharply, "just because they may not enter her in a race that a jockey suggests, doesn't mean they know nothing about horses. You've ridden the filly once - they've had her since she was born. Maybe she put in a good work today. You never know." She stared up at Andrea, trying not to let her expression turn cold.
