Caryn made her way toward the pair on the lawn. As soon as she got within a yard of the pair Devil lunged out at her and bit her on the arm. The pain was intense and when he stepped back Caryn had to bite her tongue to keep from crying.
"What's wrong with you Devil. I miss the old you and I want you back." She said her voice getting that sad tone to it. Even though there was blood running down her arm she paid no mind to it and looked into Devil's eyes. She saw a faint glimmer of recognition.
Devil only laid his ears back though they were slightly not as far back as they'd been before.

Michelle grinned. "It doesn't matter to me!" she exclaimed. "I just wanna do it some more."
After putting the pony away, Carley went to go find Andrea. When she did, she saw her holding Devil. She walked over to the new rider and grabbed the lead rope from Andrea, waving it at Devil, indicating him to back up. He had gone through the procedure many times before. The stallion didn't intimidate her.
"What in God's-name do you think you're doing, Andrea?!" she yelled. "Did anyone give you permission to take this animal out?! D*mmit! You don't just come to this farm and waltz into the barn, thinking you can take out any horse your little heart desires!" She was furious with the rider. If the stallion got hurt because of her, the owner's of the farm would blame it on Carley.
Devil's ears were pinned back, but he didn't try doing anything to Carley. He knew better then to mess with her. She reached in her pocket and pulled out a few treats and feed them to the horse, who was standing a few feet away from them. She then turned her attention back to Andrea, her eyes demanding a good reason. Or else.

"The vet told me to take him for a walk, the girl called him and said something was wrong when something wasn't so the vet said to take him on a walk, i know how to handle horses even ones like him im just doing what the vet told me to do, i wouldn't ever be that stupid first i'd get permission like I did aka the vet and i took him out honestly you don't need to blow up nothing would have happened i can handle much more of a horse than him" She said calmly.
Andrea did not feel imtidated because she had been through the yelling and screaming before. But this time she had permission and if she fired her then she would leave without comment only saying goodbye to Devil who seemed to connect with her in a way.
"Im not ignorant you know" She said staring into Carleys eyes without blinking.

Carley stared back. She could tell that they were going to have many hurdles to climb in the future. "That may be so," Carley said coolly, her gaze never dying. "But how come the owner's weren't contacted if you thought something was wrong with the horse? Or me? Or the assistant trainer?" She pasued, looked at Devil and then back at Andrea. "Usually when the vet comes, he checks in with one of us, regardless. Did he?"

"Thanks," Michelle replied. She then nodded. "And sure!"
She heeled the gelding into his canter and did a large circle before heading towards the jump. As she did, Hickory made his canter faster and started to pull on the bit. Michelle got into her half-seat and hung on tightly. Hickory took off the ground and hopped over the jump. He then shook his head after the jump and cantered away from it.
Michelle pulled him up and walked back over to Sherray. "Wow," she said. "That was powerful!"

"The girls name is Caryn i think, and I hope you can trust that i know perfectly well that the vet was here and i do not know why he didn't check in I was with the horse while Caryn called i thought she had told someone" She said gathering up her things.
Taking out her phone she called JAmes and said "Hey no dont come well meet some other time". With that she clicked off the waited for a reply.

"yes it was. next time though try to make sure he doesn't speed up keep him going at an easy canter and get a little more in control. other than that you did great " she said grinning " you know if we work on your form some more you might be ready tfor this begginer jumper show someone told me about..." she said " why don't we go to the ring and you can do a couple of crossrails" she said and began to trot butter back to the stable

"Carly there's no need to go crazy I'm standing right here." Caryn said cautiously stepping forward keeping her eyes on Devil's ears and paying no heed to the voice that'd given the warning. There was a slight saddness in her voice the next time she spoke. "I'd hoped he'd get over his likes and dislikes by the time his three-year-old season rolled around but from the way he's acting now I don't think so. I'mm going to call the vet back over here to geld him before I change my mind. Maybe that's the attitude adjustment he needs." She concluded her eyes were like gray stone and they seemed to dare someone to contridict her decision.

Michelle grinned. "That would be soo cool!" she exclaimed as they rode back to the stable. "Do you think Mommy would let me?"
Carley turned her back on Andrea and faced Caryn. She almost chocked on the air. However, the younger girl didn't scare her. "Caryn, you can't geld this horse!" she exclaimed. "I mean, you can, but it'd be a very stupid idea. You've seen this horse run! He's fast and gets down to business! He's only a devil on the ground. But, that can change. I'll even help. Because, I have the answer."

Michelle shook her head. "No," she told the older girl reassuringly. "I've been begging her to let me jump and she said she was going to teach me, but she hasn't yet. Mommy will probably be happy."

"Yes Carlys right you dont need to geld him, im sure she will get him to be a good horse I mean look into his eyes past everything else, past the hatred, past the fury something else is burning inside him and i know its good just give Carly some time with him im sure she'll be able to do it" Andrea exclaimed stroking Devils nose.
The horse had now put his nose in her chest begging for attention and she gave it to him. Rubbing his velvetly nose she gave a week smile when he pricked his ears and nickered softly and cocked his leg back in content.
Picking up his head she brought him to eye to eye and said "No one needs to be gelded here espeshially him he's got something that others dont and something he could pass on from gerneration to generation something good".
Devil tossed his head and whinnied in delight then lowered it back down to put it in rubbing range. Andrea could tell he kept trying to lightly tug on the rope to get closer to her. Maybe their was a connection between her and him that was automatic maybe it was a special one. Looking at Caryn with a pleading look she looked to Carly hopeing the older ones rule would overrule.

as sherray got closer to the stable she could hear caryn and carly and andrea " michelle hon I'll meet you in the ring ok I'm just going to see your mom for a sec. you can trot him a bit if you want but nothing else k'?" and she walked butter over to where they were she dismounted and entered the stable.
"Hi caryn, carly, andrea' she said smiling "what's wrong?"
Butter let out an impatient neigh and tugged at the rein. "sorry" she apoligized " I'm still training this girl and her manners lesson hasn't sunk in it yet" she said laughing

Michelle nodded and entered the ring. She began to trot the large pony around, longing to jump. She glanced at the jumps in the middle of the ring and sighed, but continued to trot.
Carley turned her head and smiled at Sherray. "Just a little disagreement," she told her friend. She then turned and glanced at Andrea, then looked to Caryn, sqauring her shoulders. "It would be a very stupid and careless idea on your behalf if you gelded him." Her tone got softer. "Caryn, you've seen him run! Even if his pasture he's fast. He flies! Like I said before, it's just his ground personality that sucks. He's excellent under saddle and you can control him. I've ridden him before and so has Sherray."
She sighed. "Andrea's right," she finally pulled from her mouth. "He may not be the next Derby winner, as many of us had hoped, but he'll get his chance to shine. Yes, he can still shine as a gelding. But, then he wouldn't be able to pass that shine down to his foals."
She glanced at Sherray. "Anyway, if you wouldn't be geld him, you should have done it when he was a little suckling," she reminded her. "He'll still have most attitude if you geld him now. So, there'd really be no point in it."

Sighing in relief she smiled at Devil then kissed his nose. "You never know the Derby is still a while a way and i'm sure he could do it if you worked with him or maybe we can surprise them at the Preakness or the Belmont" She said hopefully.
"Listen Carly im sorry for how i acted it was stupid and careless" She blurted out when Devil nudged her sharply.
"And Carly im sorry for being rude earlier i had so much on my shoulders, everyone does i know but it seemed like i had more which was false" She sighed. Devil pricked his ears then whinnied loudly at her.

"Well I guess I was a little hasty, but I just don't get why he suddenly hates me all of a sudden. We used to be such good friends and now he acts like he wants to kill me. I was actually hoping I'd have my apprentice license my the time the Drby rolled around for him so I could ride him. Carly if you think you can turn him around then I won't hold you back. Sherray, Andrea? I want you two to put forth every single effort you can to help Carly and don't give me any reason to rethink my decision to geld him okay?" Caryn said as she turned and looked toward the drive. "Oh look Lucas is here I'll see you guys later I guess. Don't forget about my dad's surprise birthday party tonight." She continued as she waved to the young man standing beside the horse van there.
