Carley watched her go and then turned back to her own daughter. She told Mandy to turn around, and kept reminding her to keep her heels down.
"Can I trot, Mama?" Mandy begged after a few more minutes of walking.
Carley shook her head. "Not until you get those heels down!" she cried. "Once that happens, you'll practice your posting at the walk."

Pulling her hair into a french braid she applied a touch of make-up then sat in a chair near Devil's stall waiting for him. The black horses majestic head snuffled her hair then he nickered softly.

As her small child continued to walk around in circles, Carley noticed her determination. After a few minutes, she let her daughter trot for a little while. Then, she slowed her back to the walk and began to teach her how to post.

Caryn came walking into the training barn carefully wiping the tearstains from her cheeks. When she noticed the new girl talking to Devil she smiled.
"Hello." she called walking up behind them as Devil whicked on her approach."What are you 'dressing up' for? Devil have you been flirting with this new girl?"

"No well my friends coming in an hour or so, Devil's being a sweet heart I heard he's a terror to the grooms and on the race track" She said smiling as Devil stuck his head on her shoulder, "Are you ok" she asked seeing her tearstreaked face.

Sherray smiled " I know hun but maybe I could talk to her all you'd have to do is take her thrugh her gaits.." sherray paused " so wanna try a jump?" she asked

"I'm okay I was only crying earlier because my best horse friend died. So who's your friend is it your BOYFRIEND?" Caryn said as she continued to rub Devil's nose.

"No" She said sharply. Noticing Devil pin his ears back and look at her as if to ask if he should bite her or not.
"Sorry i didnt mean that to be so sharp, well we used to go out but we had some dissagreements and yeah.. by the way i think you should stay away from Devil he might bite you now it seems like a weird thing I can sense what hes feelings" She said lighting her tone.
Devil stepped back and tossed his head then set it on Andrea's shoulder.

Michelle shook her head. "I've only trotted and cantered ground poles," she replied. "Have you jumped?!"
Mandy sighed and climbed off of Rebel. She handed the reins to her mother and stalked out of the paddock, running towards the barn. Carley rolled her eyes and led the gelding back into the training barn.

sherray nodded "yep. there is a small crossrail ahead why don't you try that at a trot? it's kind of hard to explain but hickory here knows what he's doing . as soon as you approach the jumpp squeeze him gently and keep him going straigh and don't forget to get up in your half seat" sherray instructe " I'll go first"
she began to trot butter and steered her towrds the jump butter hesitated for a breif moment but then cleared the jump sherray turned her in a circle and took it again trotting back to michelle " ready?"

Michelle nodded. She nudged Hickory into his smooth trot and pointed him towards the jump. The horse's ears pricked up as he saw the jump. When they got close, Michelle raised into a her half-seat and gave the large pony a squeeze. He tucked his legs under him and jumped, landing neatly on the other side and cantering away from the jump.
Michelle walked back to Sherray, her eyes and face glowing. "That was fun!" she exclaimed.

"Oh he wouldn't bite ME! We've always had some sort of 'link' ever since I helped deliver him when he was a baby. It's odd for someone else to have forged a 'link' like that with him but I don't mind. So this guy whose coming over WAS your boyfriend but you two got into a fight over I don't know maybe the death of a favorite horse or something so you took this job to get away from him and he wants to talk about the thing you got into a fight about and resolve the problem in some way. Right?" Caryn asked as she slipped into Devils stall and swung up onto his clean, shining black back. "Would you mind opening the stall door for me Andrea? I want to take Dveil here out for a romp in the sun."

Almost glaring at the girl she saw Devils pinned ears and his tossing of his head. Even though she may have said that they had a connection the horse did not like her, walking into the stall Andrea layed a hand on his nose and looked into his eyes.
In those eyes she saw fire and fury, then suddenly he snaked around and bit her on the leg hardly. Biting her lip Andrea tried not to say i told you so but then she said "I dont think you need to make any suggestions like that its plain rude and shouldn't you be riding in a saddle and bridle from what the trainer tells me and what i can see in his eyes hes a hard ride".
Andrea did not open the door she stood their holding Devil's head so he wouldn't bite her, then suddenly he gave a little buck which threw the girl off.
"Devil no" She whispered stroking his nose, "You ok"!?

"I'm quite fine but I don't know why he did that. First off he's never done that before so there must be something wrong with him may be I should call the vet." Caryn said quickly standing up before Devil could step on her. Through the fire and fury in his eyes she noticed something else, pain. "Yep I think he needs a veterinarian NOW."

When she walked away Devil stuck his head out of the stall door the pranced merrily around the stall. Sticking his head in her arms she giggled when he licked her face.
By the time the vet had arrived she smiled with satisfaction when the vet said "Their is clearly nothing wrong with this horse, he just needs to be walked around".
When he left Andrea clipped on his lead and left the barn walking him around the area. He pranced happily and pricked his ears, but when someone came near he either tried to bite them, kick them or both.
"People really should listen to me when i say a horse dosent like something or someone" She sighed as she sat on the ground while Devil chomped on grass beside her.
