"Okay," Samantha called out to her student, "try a sitting trot."
The rider, a boy, sat down and Ashleigh could tell that he relaxed. His body became fluid and supple, as did the horse's. Sam stopped him and called him in.
"Have you ridden at all before this?" she sasked him. The boy nodded. "Cantered?" Again, he nodded. "Good, go try it."
Ashleigh watched the boy as he sent the dark chestnut into a canter.

Andrea mounted her other horse, Morning's first sunlight.

she smiled at her reflection in the rusty mirror hanging in the wall on the tackroomshe tied back her brown-almost-black hair into a ponytail. She put on some lipgloss and then got Sunlight's tack
she grinned as she walked down the aisleway to her horse's stall quickly tacking sunlightshe broughr him outside to mount there she noticed a oby with sam and ashleigh

Ashleigh turned her head towards Andrea. "Hi," she said.
Sam once again glanced over for a moment to see who it was. She nodded and told the boy to stop. The boy turned the horse into the middle and Sam approached him.
"Good, good," she said. "You look like you have everything mastered. Your seats good, your hands and your legs." She smiled. "What else have you done?"
The boy smiled back. "I've barrel-raced," he replied.
Sam grinned. "Ah, a barrel racer," she said. "Well, how about we end it today and come next week and we'll do some jumping?" The boy nodded and sent the horse out of the ring to walk him around the barn.
Sam walked over to Ash and Andrea. "You two wanna jump?" Sam asked them. "I know Goddess can, Ashleigh. Andrea, your horse jumps, right? Or am I thinking of a different Andrea?"

Sam smiled back. "You wanna jump her?" she asked. "My next lesson doesn't start for another fifteen minutes." She turned to Ashleigh as she saw her friend going towards the arena. "Don't fall off!"
Ashleigh laughed and trotted Fleet around the ring and then positioned her at a low, natural crossrail.

Sam smiled back. "No problem," she said. "I'll be back out in fifteen minutes." She walked away, leaving Ashleigh and Andrea alone.
Ashleigh sat down deeper on Goddess's backand grabbed a hunk of mane. She really didn't want to fall off if Goddess actually jumped. But, the mare only trotted over the jump. Ahead of them, a jump about one foot high was awating them. Ashleigh decided to let Goddess have a go at it.

Andrea directedsunlight towards a difrent jump course and cantered over it sunlight's foot hit a pole "come on girl dont be lazy" she whispered
at the next jump Sunlight perked up her ears and took it at a allop"good girl she murmerd
when andrea was young she had dreams of being a steeplechase champion but she had given up when she found many places didnt offer trainers for that after 2 more jumps Andrea slowed he down to a trot then a walk

Goddess pricked her ears and rounded her head at the poll. She tried to dash away from the jump, but Ashleigh keep her between her legs and hands. Goddess then broke into a canter for one beat and jumped.
Ashleigh managed to stay on and pulled up the mare before she cantered off towards the next jump.
"Good job, sweets," Ashleigh praised the old horse. She walked over to Andrea and smiled. "Well, that was fun."

Ashleigh looked down at Goddess's black mane. She twirled her fingers through the mane, which she had been keeping silky. Her thoughts were pushed back to Mike's first steeplechaser, Sierra. They still had the stallion and his last crop had been born three years ago. Ashleigh had only kept two of the foals - a filly that was already a Steeplechasing champion and a colt who was on his way to making it big.
Ashleigh looked up at Andrea. "That'd be great," she said weakly, forcing a smile. "So, you like steeplechasing, huh?"
