You are absolutely right!!!! Elmore got scr@!*wd...
Corporate America squezing out the little guy... (buy no means is Mr. Elmore financially a little guy ...just a play on words!!!) I also....bet plan B was a part of the equation
The Spurs have the fan base to sell to already.....and I would bet they are not interested in sharing from the same pie. I feel sorry for the players and the loyal fans of the Iggys...hopefully it will work itself out . It appears it is possible that the Icerays would be a likely candidate for farming players to S.A.

Re: San Antonio in AHL!!
well if that happens i guess that would be good for the players... we had one player who i really believe has the potential to make it big(er) than the chl... i just wish he could live up to his potential, god knows we don't get any scouts down here!!!

To clear things up...
Okay, I have been away for a while. College Station to San Antonio is NOT an easy move. Even more difficult than the regular weekend trips for games I made for hockey.
Here's the breakdown. The Spurs have shown interest in buying the Iguanas for ages, they want to own sports in S.A. period, watch soon for another attempt at Arena Football. Elmore and the Spurs butt heads on price, and it didn't work out. Because rumors and reports from Spurs organization employees kept referring to the Spurs bringing in an AHL or ECHL team, it was confirmed before Elmore left negotiations that the Spurs would NOT bring another hockey team to S.A. With the Spurs saying that they would not, the negotiations ended, with a date set for negotiating the new lease at the Freeman.
A week later the Spurs announce their intentions to bring in the AHL, and postpone the negotiations with the Iguanas for the lease indefinitely (later the Spurs TOTALLY deny this, and reopen negotiations).
Over the time since then, the Iguanas have beefed up their ownership, and have had very positive negotiations with the Alamodome.
Advantage? It may just be loyalty, but I am awarding it to the Iguanas. The Spurs have a huge advantage for the fact that their money can get their advertising to people who know virtually NOTHING about hockey. However, the Iguanas fanbase is MUCH stronger than it ever was during Ice Wars I. The Iguanas will mostlikely be able to get a lease not much more expensive than their rather cruddy lease from the Freeman, plus parking and concessions. Plus the Iguanas will be able to move their offices there, more money saved, and because a rental includes the entire facility, the other areas could be used for fan events.
The Spurs however will have their team mostlikely rotating between the Freeman and the SBC. Their lowest advertised ticket prices rival the Iguanas HIGHEST. Because of the NBA and the WNBA, most AHL games will most likely be on weekdays while the Iguanas will be free to play on Friday and Saturday nights. The SBC will not open until November, even thought the AHL season starts in October. So their first games will be on the road, constantly. When the Rodeo in S.A. comes this year, it will move to the SBC Center, with the Stock Show moving to the Freeman. This locks out both the NBA and the AHL team for a solid month. Which leaves the Iguanas as the ONLY game in town for that time.
Icewars Episode 1 had the CHL Iguanas flop, move to the WPHL and Bossier to become the Mudbugs, with the Dragons of the IHL eventually moving to the CHL and buying the Iguanas brand. Let's hope its a bit more clean cut this time.
