General Board Rules
--No Animagus, Wandless Magic, Werewolves/Veela, Special Powers (Unless You Have Admin Approval), etc. I want regular students, and would like to focus on character development before power development.

--Respect! This rule should be common sense, of course. This means no flaming! As well, keep in mind that people aren’t like their characters, and just because someone insulted your character IC doesn’t mean they dislike you OOC. Keep IC fights IC, and keep OOC fights off of this board.

--Use the application formats provided; they’re there for a reason, after all! As well, make sure that you have a hard copy of your biography saved on your computer, as EzBoard has a tendency to eat things. Also, when writing out your biography, be sure to make sure your character is a realistic person. No one’s perfect, and everyone has things that they can’t do well, and flaws in their personality! Keep that in mind, or you will be rejected, simple as that.

--We’re rated 14 A since I honestly cannot expect any very touchy topics to occur at a private boarding school for students between the ages of 12 and 17. However, just in case, this is the rating to let you be as creative as you can! If you use too much rough language, too much violence, or too much sex, I will ask you to edit your post. If you don’t do so, I’ll edit it for you, and you don’t want that to happen!

--No Godmodding! This means that you cannot control anyone but your character(s), and any NPCs (Non Playing Characters, or background people played by no one) that you write into your posts. If you have permission to play someone else’s character, state that in an out of character note in your posts, or I will ask you to edit it.

--If you’re going away or leaving the board, let us no so that we either don’t delete your character or so that we can move your character to the archives and avoid cluttering the board.

--No characters can be based on characters from HP or other sources, nor may any character be related to a character from the books. This RPG takes place in Canada, which means that most of the canon characters haven’t even heard of the school. Harry doesn’t have a long lost cousin, Hermione doesn’t have a twin sister/brother, and Siruis didn’t spawn another godson.

--While I won’t put in post minimums, I would like everyone to write at least two paragraphs per post, not including speech spoken by other characters. I’d like for this to be an Advanced RP, and Advanced Players write more than a paragraph per post – the usually write more than two paragraphs per post, too, so if you have difficulty writing that much regularly, this is not the RP for you.

--Write in third person, past tense.

“That sounds wonderful,” Mary said. (Correct)

“That sounds wonderful,” Mary says. (Incorrect)
“That sounds wonderful,” I say. (Incorrect)
“That sounds wonderful,” I said. (Incorrect)
“That sounds wonderful,” She says. (Incorrect)

While you’re at it, use that little button below the post box that says spell check. Proper grammar and spelling is a good thing, and if you consistently spell things wrong and use horrible grammar, I’ll ask you to fix that.

--Date and time your threads in the title of the post, or right at the beginning if it won't fit. For example, "Thread Title (September 1, 1:00) (ISO: Whoever)". If the the thread is open, write ISO: Open, or something to that effect. Threads that have a specific person in the title are private; if you want to join, PM the members of the thread to make sure it's alright if you join.

--No students from any place but North America, unless you have a very good reason for your character to be studying in Canada. The British have their own schools, and it is safe to assume that witches and wizards in other parts of the world have their own schools too. Why would they be coming here?

--If you're writing a student character, please don't sort him/her. For older students, just write the history as generically as possible. If you are writing an adult character, you can sort him or her (assuming they attended Bolingbroke).

--And most of all, have fun! This is an RPG, and most of these rules should be common sense. If there’s something I see you doing that I find inappropriate, don’t be offended if I ask you to change it. I don’t mean it as a personal attack against you, but instead as something to keep the board running smoothly.

--Code just to make sure you've read the rules, put "nice" in brackets after your character's name, along with the rest of the code.

The Admin reserve the right to change these rules at any time.
