My sister called me from western Kentucky to tell me Ike has wiped out her power. Is she a drama queen liar or am I just geographically retarded?
Also she is a big time joke recycler. First thing she was was, "My house feels like Tina Turner."

her: "It's getting smacked around by Ike!"

yep Roma, it was was blowing like fucking mad here last night. we have two big pines down in our yard, the neighbors huge pine fell across the street. All of my hanging plants are just gone. I can't find any trace of where they went. We had this screen gazebo thingy, thats in the neighbors yard smashed into a million pieces. all our corn in the garden is down. gah.

I should shut the fuck up sometimes. My electricity went out at 2pm yesterday and probably won't be back on until tomorrow. Crazy wind.

Yep, power went out around 2am Saturday morning and it didn't come back on until 8:30 last night. Lots of wind and rain and thuds and crashes going on. Our house had no damage, but the guy behind us has a huge old oak tree in the middle of his house - the exposed roots system is taller than his house. Lost two small trees. The people across the street still don't have power.
The worse thing for us was getting news since all we had was a radio. And the boredom ............. omg, I was getting tired of reading or playing cards or cleaning up the yard. Hordes of chainsaw wielding males were going through the neighborhood desperate to chop down stuff.
My office building lost a lot of windows on one corner and we can't enter through the street - have to use the tunnels.
Cable isn't back on yet either and I absolutely have to get a cell phone charger that charges from the car.

Someone told me last night that they have power but the people across the street don't, so their neighbor has an extension chord going out of his window, across the street, and into another window. People have to drive over the chord. I gotta go get a pic of that.

that tunnel thing applies to most people - he has a cafeteria in his building, so I know of two buildings that meet that qualification (not mine), but he does work downtown.
