boom--see who understands him!
[GRISSOM: The dirty little secret of bombs is how easy they are to make and use.
(Standing off to the side are WARRICK, SARA and CATHERINE.)
GRISSOM: (continued) Our murder weapon's here someplace in a thousand pieces.
(GRISSOM looks at the flowers that were delivered just before the explosion on
the ground.)
GRISSOM: (continued) We have to find it and put it back together again.
WARRICK: Where do we start?
GRISSOM: If it's not growing pick it up. We cart everything we find back to
the lab.
SARA: And then what?
GRISSOM: Stay curious.
(GRISSOM turns back to look through the debris. SARA stares at him for a moment
still unsure of exactly what they're doing, then turns to look at CATHERINE.)
SARA: Can you fill in the blanks?
CATHERINE: Bombs explode. Weird thing is their components survive the
explosion. If we can piece together this bomb, we're closer to finding who did
this. So, Warrick, when you're photographing this debris can you, uh ... ?
WARRICK: Uh, I know -- looky-loos.

OK, this isn't in BOOM but your observation triggered the thought. Little Missy was also all pleased to announce in one ep that Gil had given her a book on entomology for Christmas.
But Cath didn't need one, did she? She knows all she needs to know about them to make sure his pets are kept alive, healthy and happy. I even suspect she looks out for specimens that might interest him!
Now, how did our blood-spatter expert learn what she knows, huh?
Re: boom--see who understands him!
and ren, you just gave me another thought. doesn't sara say in s1 that she doesn't like bugs? so wouldn't giving a book on entemology to someone who doesn't like bugs be kind of an insult?
now, back to "she who understands him." cath knows where everything is in his office. she rearranges his stuff and he doesn't mind. she does his paperwork.

Not just an insult. It's like he doesn't bother to remember Sara's likes and dislikes:
Quote:SARA: Uh, Grissom ... aren't you going to tell me anything?
GRISSOM: About?
SARA: The case, the meat, what you found ...?
GRISSOM: I'm working it.
SARA: I thought I was working it with you.
GRISSOM: Yes. You're right, you are. So, take some photos of the experiment for the D.A. And then ... uh ... get rid of that stuff.
(GRISSOM turns to leave. SARA stops him again.)
SARA: That meat... the raw meat... me?
GRISSOM: Yeah.
SARA: How many meals have we shared together?
GRISSOM: I don't know.
SARA: Take a guess -- over a year working together.
GRISSOM: Thirty.
SARA: I'm a vegetarian. Everyone here knows I'm a vegetarian. I haven't eaten meat since we stayed up that night with that dead pig. It pains me to see ground beef; forget about cleaning it up.
GRISSOM: Okay. Have Nick do it.
(GRISSOM leaves. SARA seems ... extremely disappointed with the exchange.)
... or he doesn't care to.
You know, I'm just realising how many parallel GC and GS scenes we actually find if we look. Just off the top of my head:
GS: How many meals have we shared together?
- I don't know.
GC: How long have we known each other?
- In days, months or years?
Yeah, Catherine understands Gil. She understands his natural messiness, she understands how he gets excited by things and the mundane - like tidying up, doing his case reviews, reading memos - gets forgotten... or ducked! She nags him but he doesn't mind. He knows she'll pick up after him. She's wifely like that.
