Woodsball on Sunday 8-21
EDIT 8-21: Hopefully this doesn't have to happen but, if anyone turns out to be a pain in my arse *grin* and show up late, here's the phone number for Matt who will be out there. Just tell him you need directions and a guide and someone will come down to guide you up. If nobody answers, leave a message and we'll check the phone when the current round is over or at least when someone gets shot and gets back to the staging area. 509-868-7617
Btw, GOOD MORNING!
EDIT 8-20: Well, looks like my edit yesterday didn't go through. Anyway, I stopped by Sportsman's Warehouse, next to the Mall, and they have JT Performance(?), Worrpaint Domination and Nelson HotSpot cases for $49.99 as well as 500 round packs for sale if you forgot to get paint. Other than that, there are no updates at this time other than you need to call me tonight or between 7-9am tomorrow if you're going to be late and I'll give you some directions as well as a cell phone to call so someone can walk out and guide you in. PLEASE be there on time since it's a bit of a long walk.
Also, I have been working on making inexpensive grenades and I have 8 prototypes made up for tomorrow so if you want to test one of these "in battle", just let me know and I'll give you one to use. I make no guarantees (yet) that it won't go off in your hand! That's part of the experimentation stage, lol!
One more thing, I'll be driving a green Saturn SL1 and wearing a maroon or dark blue North Idaho College baseball cap while I'm at Gart so you can recognize me. I'll also put a CO2 tank or mask or something on the car.
EDIT 8-17: Please check this thread Saturday night/Sunday morning in case there are any updates. I don't expect that there will be but just in case... :)
I will plan on having a mask or CO2 tank or something on top of my car so you can recognize us.
Also, please make sure that you have a backpack or something to carry your marker in. We do have to walk a short ways through a park and people walking through parks wearing camos and carrying "guns" make other people nervous, lol!
Well, only had 9 people this week due to the VERY short notice but we already have at least 15 people planned for next week, the 21st. I'm just going to copy over the info from this week since it stays pretty much the same.
=================================
We've got a few guys going out to play some woodsball Sunday, Aug. 14th. This is outlaw ball although we have confirmed with SCSD that it's ok to play at our location. If you're interested, e-mail me ASAP at datrogg@hotmail.com or call me at 208-665-7871 and just leave a message with your phone number and how many people are interested.
We'll be meeting somewhere in the Spokane Valley, most likely near the mall, between 10-11am and the field's about 5 minutes away. If you're coming, I'd reccomend swinging by PBDave's shop and getting paint Saturday since the only place open on Sunday am near there is Sportsman's Warehouse and I dunno about their quality of paint. Gart Sports is open for CO2 fills though and it's only like $2.50-3.00 for a 20oz. fill. Gart's paint stock is pretty crappy and I don't reccomend it.
Bring standard gear and wear jeans or camos since it is woodsball and a bit brushy. Dark or Camo clothing is your choice. We play standard TeamDM for the most part and standard rules regarding hits. Most of us will play until about 4pm but you're welcome to stay later.
Make sure that you can pack your gear easily since it's a little less than a quarter mile mild hike from the parking area to the field.
Hope to see you there!
======================================
Ok, changes.
1) It's on the 21st now.
2) I'll plan to be at Gart from 10am-11am. Once everyone
shows up who contacted me, I'm leaving though.
3) The plan is that we're going to try an SPPL setup although we've gotta figure out a way to do points or just not bother with who truly wins. Maybe a "capture all three bases" kinda thing. It will most likely still be TeamDM though.
4) CONTACT ME if you want to come. Please remember to bring your own paint, air/CO2 and WATER since this is not an organized field, just a bunch of people playing together.
5) So all bases are covered, I should probably say that if you start to develop anger issues etc., we will ask you to leave. This is semi-family style paintball and there will be a couple young teens there as well as a few females.

Re: sunday the 21st
We normally have a chrono out there (got left at the truck yesterday) to make sure everyone's shooting low and, since it will be more than just our circle of friends, we will definitely be chronoing. Probably 300 max due to woodsball ranges.
The area is, I'd say 3 acres or so that we play in. There's a ton more room but if you crawl back in that brush, nobody's gonna bother coming after you
I'd say there's definitely enough area with all the different ridges, mounds and varied cover to easily handle 20 people and "maybe" 30. 30 would get kinda messy though.

Re: sunday the 21st
I am there again. And yes, I will bring the chrono this time.
For those who where there...the area is larger by a good measure than the upper area at Pipers.
Both starting areas have a large sized hill with good cover behind them. There and smaller hills and ridges on both perimeters allowing for good flanking moves. And the center has open areas just large enough to make you think befor you jump...but yet plenty of cover to use and make the bold advancements under direct visual observation from the opposition.
Lastly there are two man made bunkers...one on each side.

Re: game
It will be good to meet you Squeeks. (probably met before and had no clue!) I will be at Gart around 10...then heading out to the parking area shortly there after. I will let Drizz stay for the straglers!
And Drizz...That Cocker I was telling you about is $650 now...
The ultimate mechanical cocker for sure. Touched by the gnomes of Plamers!
Re: Woodsball on Sunday 8-21
Whats up guys? I got a group that will possibly be trying to find a place to play Sunday. By the way I am Lunatic of team S.I.N.. I registered with EZ Board long before I got into paintball hence the name Chuklehead. We may have a showing of around 6 players most of which will be new so I can't say for sure if they will want to play with you all. Our regulars are going to Windtalkers. So I figure I would take the newbies out and get them broken in. Don't wait around for us though it's quite likely we will stick against each other so they can get a little experience first.
Re: Woodsball on Sunday 8-21
Yeah, bring the newbs! There are a few of us there......if you wanna stick together or seperate that's up to you! Hey, it's not my fault no one said we needed my chrono....sheesh.....nice going Mech....LOL
Re: Woodsball on Sunday 8-21
After reading the review on the BE Talon and the BE Stingray.....I can't decide which one to get. That's it I'm selling my FS7 in favor of getting both of those!
Re: Woodsball on Sunday 8-21
Timber, we gotta get you running some drills, man. Or at least put you on a speedball field as a backman. You got some awesome firepower with that FS7. Hang onto it.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just realized what BE stands for.

Re: Woodsball on Sunday 8-21
chuklehead....don't worry about the new players. They are surely welcome and encouraged.
Last week we had one who never played befor...she...yes she drilled Drizzle in the back becuase he lost his mind in the thrill of the chase!
ANd we have had a few other cut their paintball teeth out with us.
We are a true group of friends who play the game for the love of the sport...no gung ho warriors here!
Good attitudes and fair play that new players will enjoy. Plus having some experienced players to watch greatly helps the newer players learn the saftey and techniques that will keep them coming back for more.

Re: guns
Don't buy new. That's the first thing. Second, your best bet might be to watch eBay or post in the Buy/Sell/Trade sections of some larger forums. For $150, you should easily be able to get an old Spyder Shutter or other Spyder mechanical marker and, if there's anything wrong with it, they're super easy to fix. Other than that, your other option is a Tippmann 98 Custom for the same price range. Tippmann A5's are gonna be too expensive still and, although they're good markers, the Pro-Lite and Pro-Carbine don't quite match up to the 98 Custom.
In that price range, I'd strongly suggest ignoring any other markers. Spyder and Tippmann are THE entry level markers.
Oh yeah, if you get a Spyder that has the stock barrel on it, you'll want to spend about 20 bucks (used) on a different barrel, possibly even a toilet paper tube rolled up and jammed in there for better accuracy

Game on sunday
Could someone post directions just in case some of us can't meet up at Gart's before heading out to the field? Edited by: Tone at: 8/19/05 10:24 am
Re: Game on sunday
I'd love to but unfortunately, it's pretty hard to give directions on how to walk out there. E-mail me with your phone number and I'll ask one of the guys who has a cell phone for permission to have you call him if you're gonna be late. If so, I could probably give you the last bit of directions from Gart over the phone and just meet you at the parking lot.
