I heard Payton was looking around for a new team, he wants to leave Seattle. I'm sure Jordan could convince him to come to Washington in exchange for the #1 Pick and some other scrubs like Chris Whitney.

Re: Wiz trading the first pick?
I've heard two rumors. Apparently, they want Rodney White, but don't think he's first pick material.
It has been reported that he talked with Vancouver about giving them the first pick and players for the sixth pick and Mike Bibby. White also said he'd like to play in Washington.
Washington might not get the 6th pick from Vancouver because Boston has offered them the Tenth and Eleventh pick for the Sixth. They are interested in Pau Gasol. He's under contract in Europe, and he'd have to buy out his $2.5 million contract. An NBA team can pay only $300 thousand of that, and Gasol and his agent would have to pay the rest. His agent, Herb Rudoy, said unless he is drafted in the top five he will keep Gasol in Europe. Boston thinks they can stretch that to six.
Re: Wiz trading the first pick?
The Wiz have to trade the pick if they want to get any better next season....the only sure player that will contribut right away is Battier..and I know he is not going #1. So they should try to get a good young veteran and a lower pick like 8-13...which should not be too difficult. Plus the Wiz have some CAP room they can maybe use to sign some free agents.
