Weekend Newbie Island Summoning Party
Well, assuming we have enough energy after Friday night's defence of Baishi, I was planning to level up Margali n'ha Ysabet (my level 20 Crusader buffer/tank/healer) to 25. This time I have trained benediction to 69 in order to be able to get Summons granted. Not sure what time this will happen exactly (say mid afternoon PST?), but I'm certain the prescence of Silver Hand elite on Newbie Island will help our profile and recruitment, plus help stock up on those Newbie Isle runes (Werewolf, Archer and Traveller).
I'll send a tell to people I see - of course I won't be able to login as another char, get a summons, etc, so this is just an early heads up to be ready for a quick and easy ride to Calder... :-) Bringing ya own Summoning Char might help us chain and also stay on Newbie Isle.
If you want, tell me when you are doing this, and I can level my druid up to 20, and then just bind him back to newbie. We can group and level to 25, it might make it easier; plus, I will be able to summon then too, which will make it twice as fast summoning wise. I'm sure there are others who want some newbie chars leveled too, and those 5 levels would probably be a great spot.
Re: Weekend Newbie Island Summoning Party
I have a Xbow Ranger that I'd love to get in on the Rune hunting I need an Archer myself. I'm currently at 20 so I think I'll be a good addition.
When are we working this?
I may have family obligations but hopefully I can get in for a bit.
Re: Weekend Newbie Island Summoning Party
Saturday sometime. It needs to be pretty early for me, otherwise I will have to leave. Pretty early being 25 at about 4 Eastern Time.
Re: Weekend Newbie Island Summoning Party
Ok, this got bogged down due to the Compton raid prior to the Baishi/Tristam banes... anyway, got rolling on 21 around 8.30pm, by 11.30pm hit 25, and summoned Sitingduk, Ryjaek, BrokenDog, Tyzr and Ruffian eventually. After losing some newbie who was I think trying to Rune steal, we made it to Forest Inconnu, and Broken got the kill for Traveller. Then SitingDuk and Ryjaek went after Archer and Werewolf, which they got, while I pondered.
In the end I decided to try and find Haegun's legendary Wolf Tribe that apparently drops nice runes.... after leading the above around for 30 mins around a swamp, they got bored and left. I actually found it - NW of the Rogue's Camp (165x245). I proceeded to kill about a 100 of them, without seeing a single room or magic drop, so I decided to run back and take the gates to see if Traveller had spawned.
It hadn't, but a couple of minutes later, pop, and I relieved Knellican of the 2nd Traveller rune of the night, followed by a quick jaunt to relieve the other two mobs of the Werewolf and Archer respectively (so Kalimah, you can have one of the 2 we pulled).
Not knowing when to give up, I put out a /leader call and ended up summoning Qaletaqa who was most amused to be on Newbie Island, and we finished the night killing Baby Ants around Calder...
Photos to follow :-)
Rom the Dire Ant Slayer!
p.s. So, lesson learnt - if you want summons on Newbie Isle, remember to take Benediction to 69, before you hit 21 (although a bug suggests that 22 is the boot level now), as you cant train it to 69 after 21 without leaving Newbie, and hence unable to return. Its 69 by Trainer standards, not by twinked out int rings either. Also, takes about 3 hours to level from hi 20's to 25. Depends on Clops group of course. But by 22 you should be able to tank and take your group inside.

Damn, sounds like a hell of a alot of fun. I had logged quite a bit earlier I'm bummed I missed it. Time for me to create my own summoner I guess.
