Warning: PC Game Nostalgia
I have recently found two modern updates to computer games I used to play back in the day... take a look:

First up, anyone remember the Incredible Machine? Ever wonder what it would look like in 3D? Well, keep wondering, because it's still 2D but in a 3D environment. But still... this is the latest version of the game from the original creators, so it must rock! With rock hammers.

Ah yes, Acrophobia. The online chat game where you competed against a room of people trying to come up with witty acronyms from letters the computer generated. It was relaxed, it was fun, and it was painfully addictive to play (especially with friends in the room.) But then the hosting company Berzerk went deep six, and Acro was no more.
...Until this came along. It's looking to be the best recreation of Acrophobia, although it's still in beta. Not enough people are online yet to play a decent game, but once the final version is released, expect that to all change. Definitely something to look out for. I'd love to have an Acro tournament with all you fourm dwellers one night...
(gets excited upon seeing the Chain Reaction game, then realizes you can only download a demo) Aww. Maybe I will buy it if I really like it.
....nahhh. Heh.
Don't know how similar or dissimilar it is to what you're talking about, but we do "Acronyms" at the Idiotsite. In the Chat room or the message board, just trying to think of funny acronymities (I don't care if that's not a word) of other words and phrases. It's just plain silly.
Pines for his Atari 2600
Did you ever try that one that Scotty Arsenault plays, Continuum?
I tried it out and got addicted for a week or two. In fact, the only reason I'm not still playing it is that I got my new computer shortly after I started playing, and nicked all the games I couldn't play on the old one off my friends...
I didn't try the Powerball version that Scotty talks of, I just played the regular version, which is basically Asteroids as a deathmatch game.
But, yeah, the idea of all the BPC forum crew meeting up on a game sounds good for a laugh. As a side note, I always thought that someone should make a game in that RPG Maker 2000 doodad and figure out how to make it online, like a retro SNES/Genesis RPG online...Phantasy Star Online, without needing a DreamCast...um, brain fart over...
Incidentally, how is BPC: the Game coming, Brian?
