Traffic
No not the movie, but actual automobile traffic.
It sucks around here, mainly because I have to go over two drawbridges each way to and from work, and every day I catch at least one of them. Can't they just tell the boats to wait till after rush hour? Most of the time its just drunks out fishing.
Another reason the traffic is so bad is the drivers. We get a lot of tourists that dont know where they are going. They change lanes without warning and slow down on the damn interstate to look around. The people that live here are just as bad. Do you really need to slow to a crawl to look at the accident on the other side of the road? Do you really want to ride in the far left lane even tho you need to take the next exit on the right, forcing you and everyone behind you to stop while you fight your way across 4 lanes of speeding cars?
I'm not perfect. I speed and follow too close sometimes, but I know my destination and which lane takes me there. I also tend to be very quick with the horn and finger, but those don't slow anybody down.

Re: Traffic
this has nothing to do with traffic but for some reason this thread remined me of yesterday at the supermarket....So, I am waiting in line to pay for all my shit, there are about 4 people in front of me. I am standing there minding my own business when all of a sudden BANG, I get hit with the most horrible smell. It was a mix of Seinfeld Caliber BO (remember that episode?) mixed with garlic and stale beer. I seriously alomst puked, I could feel my gag reflex working. I turn around and the man behind me was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen in my life. I wish I had a camera so I could have submitted his pic to Uglypeople.com. He is holding a 12 pk of Mills Best Ice. His grey long beard has stuff stuck in it, I don't even want to guess what it was. his white tee was stained and not coving the huge Mills Ice belly. I turned around and stood there for antoher minute before I just couldn't take it anymore and got out of line and made like I forgot something and then got into another line.

I always cuss and holla in the car, like anybody can fucking here me.
Last year, or the year before I dunno, St. Louis was awarded "The Worst Traffic City in the US" from some magazine or some study. Blah
We also have the highest crime rate of any city in the US and we are the worst city in the US for allergy sufferers.

Re: Traffic
Took almost an hour to get home yesterday. Made it past the first bridge ok, then got stuck due to an overturned cement truck, then got stuck at the second bridge.
Dang Mac, STL sounds great.

Re: Traffic
Id rather be stuck in my car with my radio with no one bothering me for 2 hours than sitting on a crowded train where ppl are eating all sorts of crap and hanging over you and sweating and coughing and sitting just a little too close and stepping on your feet and bumping into you for an hour.
but if you have no A/C in your car and are stuck behind a bus that is blasting you with exhaust fumes or something that kinda sucks too.
actually, it all sucks. It really does.

Re: Traffic
We were out of some stuff yesterday at work and I took the MetroLink(light rail) over to one of the other stores downtown and the thing was so gross to me. I hardly ever ride it and now I remember why.
I can't believe people eat on those things. I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER!!!! I mean, the germs, the coughing, the sneezing . . . blech.
**vomits**
Ok, I gotta go now . . .

Re: Traffic
lisa stl, everytime I have to drive in St. Louis, it gives me a stroke. By the time I make it across to my side of the river, I am always in a murderous rage. I think I smoke about a pack of cigs everytime I have to make a 20 minute drive over there.

I used to drive over there on Sunday nights and sit in that park on the cliff thing by the river? ya know what Im talking about?
Anyway, I would always come home eaten alive after being anywhere over there. You IL people need to get that under control.

Re: Traffic
I know the park you mean.
The trick to avoiding the mosquitos is this: I stay inside when I'm not at work. Unless I'm at the bar. They stay out of there. If they do get in, I just make sure I drink so much that I don't care! See?
(and I'm not laughing at munyband )
