Too much heat, April 4, 311
A figure appeared on the horizon of Anarab. As it grew closer, it became more distinct. The man wore a black cloak, tattered at the bottom, which flapped in the wind as he flew. He had two enormous dragon wings, which kept him aloft as he flew across the desert. His skin was a grim shade of black, gleaming in the sunlight. As he flew, he seemed to waver, back and forth, dropping lower and lower by the second. He had barely reached the outskirts of Anarab when he fell, hitting the sand. His red hair ruffled in the wind as his eyes closed, barely revealing the red irises in them before he managed to close them. There he lay, passed out from the heat.

Re: Too much heat, April 4, 311
Time had irritated her. Her jacket was still torn, the lack of her right sleeve a testament to her run of bad luck. The desert sun was a welcome punishment, though it was dulled on her skin. She barely felt the swirling sands and the heat, barely had trouble with it, but still, the mild irritation was enough to make her feel like she had something to focus on. Something other than that bitch who slept with her lover. Her rage spiked again, the blue curls of her hair whipping around her face as she tilted her head back, "I hate you! I'll kill you all, you realize? EVERY LAST ONE!" The goddess gave in to despair for the swirling second when temptation beckoned her. So much time as a mortal, and so little done.

Truly. All she had done was be punished. No more. No *more*...

Imagine her surprise when her foot caught on something and she nearly toppled--the single least graceful thing she had done in years. She turned to look at the dust she was crossing, leaned down, and wrenched from the dune... a boy.

"My god. Mortals bury themselves at every turn. And they seem to be the bane of my existance even in the throws of their deaths..." The words she muttered were to herself, but for some reason, she dragged the boy along a few feet before the sands engulfed her and took her and he from the place they sat.

The oasis spread out, and she dropped him quite unceremoniously into the cool, sloshing, muddied water. "My good deed for the century."

"Unh..." Slowly, Xero came to. He staggered to his feet, the heat absorbed into his scales from the desert radiating from his skin. Of course, you couldn't tell that he was scaled, because of how small they were, but they still absorbed the ambient heat. He looked around him. Someone else was there. He paused for a moment before speaking in polite terms. "...Thank you." He wasn't quite sure of what to say after that, so he decided to at least ask her. "...Have you seen any swords with magical energy in and around them?" He didn't mention their looks because they so differed from each other that describing them all would take time.

Amazing. It took him mere seconds. Shi pushed her hand through her taught blue curls, the black leather of her jacket bunching around the curve of her arm as the gesture made its pass. Her bare arm was pale and white as it had ever been, the perfect match of her skin. She didn't look like she came from the desert--hell, she didn't look like she came from this world.

She pouted around those pointed teeth, deciding at that moment that talking to him wouldn't hinder her any more than not. She was a bit lonely--trying to fight the world alone had always been an image, but the truth was that she had possessed friends then... or she thought she had, before they sealed her ass in a pit of torture for millennia.

"No. No swords. I don't care for things like that." Truth be told, if he had a legendary artifact, it wouldn't have arrived here until he did. They would have followed him, attached to his soul, so who knew what they hit falling out of the sky or what person they imploded on their way down.

"Damn..." Xero cursed under his breath. "Not here, either... where could the remaining Blades of Balance be?" He looked at the person he was talking too. There was a sense of something about her that was like... no, he wouldn't deal with that again. "Forgive me if I seem rude, but exactly what are you? You don't seem... " His voice trailed off as he contemplated what it would mean if she was.

She chuckled softly, that big gold eye turning to look at him over the bridge of her nose. "You've dealt with gods before? That's usually the look I get." She dropped the jacket off her shoulders, sliding down the smooth, unabridged white of her skin. One hand was gloved, the other's claws glistening in the sunlight. The bustie that pressed her breasts up and together came into view, each string lacing up it perfectly symmetrical to its counterpart. She slid into a seat of sand as it built itself beneath her.

"I'm also, consequently, your saviour, considering I tripped over your dying ass in the middle of the desert. I must admit, I must have felt.... generous. I've been having a foul time as of late--what on earth possessed me to save you?" Her speech was mostly to herself, the haze over her eyes saying she was thoroughly lost in thought.

Re: Too much heat, April 4, 311
Xero closed his eyes in exasperation. "Oh, great... I die and still I can't avoid running into Gods everywhere I go..." He sighed. "Damnit." He looked at her. "I thank you for saving me, but, unfortunately, I've had bad experiences with Gods meddling with me. You probably didn't realize that though. As a matter of fact, I still carry around the results of them meddling." He held forth his hand, and a sword appeared. It glowed with a soft white light, and there was an angelic feel and look about it. "The Blade of Life. One of eight swords that the Gods of Balance gave me. And what did their quest do? Got me killed and I ended up in this world."

Re: Too much heat, April 4, 311
"Gods of Balance--not from my pantheon.. and I honestly," She paused, a wicked smile crossing her beautiful features, "don't really care about mortal problems." Her gold eye narrowed, lashes low over that slitted pupil. She leaned her soft cheek against the heel of her palm, staring at the black boy and his ruddy hair as it blew in the oasis wind. The bright red reminded her of that woman, and she blocked it from her mind.

"Whether you dislike or like gods is none of my concern. Truly, the fact that I am still here is a matter of curiosity and not care." The sand of her throne slipped down into the dust again as she stood up and began away from the oasis, her fingers slid out along the air to point toward the south. "The city is not long that way--.. but I'd suggest, with your aversion to heat, to go..." and her hand moved through the air to point northwest, "that way. Toward the cooler temperatures and climates. Goodnight, Mortal."

Re: Too much heat, April 4, 311
Xero's eyes widened as he turned to look northwest. Oh, hell... He thought to himself. How am I gonna make it through the desert again? He sighed. "I'll never find the Blades at this rate..." He said, his wings growing larger so he could fly faster. He fluttered into the air, flying northwest so as to avoid passing out.
