Thoughts on the Oilers playing at the Pavilion....
OK I was talking to two of the Oilers and they really liked the Pavilion Ice and it is bigger and wider then the Convention Center Ice. The only thing is the boards don't give as much as the CC, and the glass is not as high and there is less seating.
However, they would have a sold out crowd every game, there is more leg room, the place has just been renovated, it has very nice accomdations, there is wheelchair access, the parking is free. And those are just a few of the pluses from a fans point of view.
The players that I was talking with stated how the atomsphere is much more fan friendly, it does have a larger ice surface, and wider, the locker rooms are nicer(or so they are told). The boards not giving and the glass being raised were a couple minus's from their point of view.
So how do we get the Oilers to the Pavilion, if we can't get the city to build a new arena, why not use the one with the better ice, and all around atmosphere?
Now a few minuses that I saw, the seats are plastic, but comfortable, the arena is COLD, but a throw blanket, like the Ft Worth crowd does, and the prices that Fine Host charges for refreshmant's is outragous.. But over all the pavilion I think is the place to be. Oh yeah the score board would have to be
re-vamped. The small little score board on the end of the ice won't cut it. And that both teams enter and exit the ice from the same spot and the officials also, might be a bad thing, but those are things that can be worked out....
So now thoughts ideas.............
