The Pantheon - Religion at SC
If you plan to use gods from this pantheon in your character's background, you will need to know these things.. but this does NOT mean that these are the only gods who have access to this plain of existence. Only that they are the most prominent pantheon in rule here and thereby the ruling power. For the most part it won't matter, but it's information you should know if you want to interact on the same level as Shi, Fedafyr, or Fuliteach. If you have questions, please contact me. My information is in the contact thread in information.
The Pantheon Heirarchy
the Mother and Father Dragon
The Mother Dragon is more familiarly known as "Mother Earth" and her body is composed of the many planets in the universe. (This universe. There are many different universes in which gods reside, so you can feel free to create your own gods or pantheons as you wish. I'll assume your gods have nothing to do with my pantheon if they don't follow this setup.)
The Father Dragon is more familiarly known as Father Time, and if you were to ask any pantheon member, they would claim that he was the stern one. While Mother Earth simply loves, Father Time makes the rules, and punishes if he sees fit.
The Elemental Gods
The elemental gods are the most powerful gods of the pantheon, and are six in number. By the order they were born is the power they have given.
Light, The Beginner, Malovaris - The controller of life and giver of the first sight. He's very dedicated to the rules and by the nine-alignment rule is "Lawful Good". He is compassionate, but elitist.
Earth, The Keeper, Fedafyr - The keeper of order and mother's surface. The second born, Fedafyr is neutral good. He believes in compassion and love and the virtue of all things.
Wind, The Giver, Aristasis - The first breath that we take, given into our earthly bodies by Aristasis. She's beautiful and wise, but and favors neutrality and freedom. Chaotic Neutral is her alignment.
Water, The Deciever, Elonwy - Truly doing whatever comes to her whim, without care for good or evil, chaos or law, Elonwy is seen as a creature of many faces. She's beautiful and ugly, evil and good, loving and hateful. She can save people by quenching their thirst or destroy them by dragging them to the pit of the sea. She's true neutral.
Fire, The Destroyer, Mikhalus - All things have to finally come to an end, and the first step to the process is Mikhalus. The Elemental god of Fire is rowdy and angry, often temper-tantrumed and seen as a youngling. He is neutral evil, completely self-centered.
Dark, The Ender, Sae'ni - The child of the Elemental gods, she is self-centered and crazy. She breaks the rules often and is seen as a troublemaker all over the pantheon. In rule of the domain of Death and Chaos, she is often referred to by mortals as "Shi no Megami", and is feared and hated most viciously in many names. Chaotic Evil is her alignment.
The Primary Gods
The primary gods are in a class all their own, even the eldest unable to fell the youngest of the Elemental, and the youngest of the primaries never able to be overtaken by the eldest of the secondaries. The power jumps between "sets" of gods is so immense, that it would take the power of 10 of the 12 primaries to equal Shi in power. Two primaries are relative to one Elemental, as the chain goes, and answer to that elemental. Each primary embodies a ruling emotion or action in the Green Children (mortals), and is born with a twin that embodies its opposite. The twins are both under the same Elemental god.
Under Light, Chastity, Elmry, and Lust, Flallana - Elmry of Chastity was best friends with Sae'ni of the Dark, born close to the same time, and she was in love with Fedafyr of the Earth. She's a bit elitist, bitchy, prudish, though has a playful side. She desires the freedom Sae'ni of the Dark covets, and as long as you're on her good side, she's friendly. Flallana of lust is head-over-heals for Malovaris of Light, her keeper, and would do anything for him. She's rude and elitist, just like her twin, but her playful side is a bit more molevolent.
Under Earth, Love, Aphroditus, and Hate, Merrik - Aphroditus of Love is a whimsical creature, he likes music and games and talk.. oh, does he love to talk. Poems and lyrics and anything else spew from his mouth. Most of the other gods kind of think he's annoying, but harmless... though many goddesses fall at his feet and want nothing more than to... uh... right. yeah. Moving on. Merrik is quiet, and brooding, and he doesn't like much of anyone. Or... he just really doesn't like anyone. Actually, he does talk to one person, and he has a soft, kind side, according to Aristasis of Wind. He also has been rumored to talk to Fedafyr freely, but that rumor died with the Elemental God's falling, for he never told. Only replied, "Himitsu desu." (It's a secret)
Under Wind, Pride, Kalsezar, and Humility, Terrusin - Kalsezar of pride is everything you'd expect him to be, thoughtless and uncaring of whomever his ego might be battering when he enters a room. Unless his twin is in the room, of course, and then he turns into a blabbering idiot. Mostly because he's in love with her, and she seems to hold some sort of grasp of his.. more earthly side. Terrusin is beautiful to behold in her simplicity, rarely stepping outside the boundaries to try and gather attention, she's quiet, but wise like her keeper. She is very much in love with her twin, and there is probably not a happier pair in the pantheon.
Under Water, Greed, Alexi'n, and Charity, Giotani - Alexi'n of Greed is the kind of kid who gets a new toy and is happy with it for ten minutes or until he sees something else. The only thing he doesn't seem to get tired of is his relationship with Firalel of War. When the two are in the same room together, Alexi'n of Greed can't seem to stop talking about how great he is. It's probably the only time they are doing anything that Alexi'n's horde of trashed treasures isn't growing. Giotani of Charity, unlike his virtue might claim, is not all about giving everything away. Though he's willing to share, he's not a saint, and he reminds people often. He's friendly, though, and has a host of fangirls, but his idol, Malovaris of Light, still hasn't really noticed him.
Under Fire, War, Firalel, and Peace, Nionate - Firalel of war seems to be the stereotypical military genius. He loves tactics and games.. oh, definitely games! One cannot count the times he can be found playing something like Risk or Chess with Mikhalus of Fire for days or months on end. Though he's much more patient than Mikhalus, and Mikhalus generally stops playing before the game has ended, to Firalel's furious dismay. When in a room with his lover, Firalel suffers from maddeningly abrupt lack of speech and lots of blushing when he's being the object of praise. Nionate of Peace believes in balance. War brings peace, as peace does war. She believes that love and hate are two common emotions that are easily switched between one another--and she implements this belief freely and often. Some refer to her politely as touched, the others just claim she's got multiple personality disorder and be done with it.
Under Dark, Despair, Seilein, and Hope, Uotani - Seilein of Despair is dark and brooding in personality only. In looks, she shines like a clean white sheet. She seems to only get along with Nionate of Peace, and for some reason, even smiles when she's around. It's bizarre! Seilein of Despair most of all hates her twin, Uotani of Hope. Uotani of Hope is all shine and smiles, never failing to be optimistic, even if she is a little barbaric about it. She gets along fabulously with Giotani of Charity, Alexi'n of Greed, and Firalel of War. Though she gets along fabulously with most everyone, if you ask her.. and her lead pipe...
The Secondary Gods
As with everyone else, the secondary gods hold allegience to certain primaries and thereby, a certain elemental, denoted henceforth by color. The secondary gods take care of many elements considered mundane and are actually 666 in number, so I'm obviously not going to show you all of them here. Only the ones who have been named or mentioned. If you follow the rules of this pantheon, you can easily just insert a god/goddess in as a secondary, as LONG as you MAKE SURE to FOLLOW the RULES as denoted below. If you intend to make a god/goddess of this pantheon, and reply to this thread with your information, I'll add them as long as they aren't covorting about like they aren't part of this pantheon at all. It would take 599 of the secondaries to equal power to the youngest of the primaries.
Blood and Gore, Fuliteach - Fuliteach is a bit flighty and empty aside from blood lust. She doesn't comprehend many mortal emotions though she is addicted to living with the race despite the rules. Trouble is brewing for the goddess, but as long as she isn't found out she knows she'll be fine. Spending most of her days in search of something to quell the lust, but finding nothing more than enticements, her very nature makes her cling to the mortals, a complusion she cannot stop.
Madness, Sanin - God of madness, son of nightmares, grand high poobah of wackjobs, and ultrapope of street people. He's basically your average-every-day pain-in-the-ass to everyone but Shi and Fedafyr.. who aren't around anymore.
Organized Religion, Rosutan - Apprentice to Fedafyr, he orchestrated the fall of the Goddess of Death in order to take the position and prestige of the God of Earth's power. He did it sneakily enough that he can't have the finger pointed at him, though, so he can't get in trouble. He's the new God of Earth, and all that that implies, though the Earth-God's power fell with Fedafyr.
Angels and Devils
Angels and Devils are the messengers and tag-boys of the gods. Angels for the goodly gods, Devils for the evil gods.. though sometimes goodly gods do evil things by using Devils as the messengers.. it's all a very-well-thought-out political scandal. Angels and Devils are not permitted to have relations, and if a child of their union is born, the mother and father are put to death and the babe put out of its misery or dropped on earth as a mortal. (Up to the courts and often chosen by how malformed the child is. If the child is too distinctly malformed, they are put out of their misery.. if it could survive in everyday life, it is merely dropped from the heavens.. though often there is trouble with the fact that the child possesses the knowledge of its parents...
The Rules
The rules are laid down with heavy danger to those who break them, though obviously some do anyways. As long as they believe they won't get caught, it's all fun and games. But keep in mind that the gods are aware of these rules and know the consequences. If they were willing to take such a risk, there must have been something of great value in it for them--sometimes it only takes narcissism, but not all gods work that way.
1. Mother's white children and Mother's green children are not to covort, fraternize, or otherwise interact at leisure. To do so risks punishment one.
2. Mother's white children will watch and govern the actions of Mother's green children and use the messengers in order to communicate.
3. Of Mother's white children, only the elemental gods will contact Father and through their total decision and Father's okay will they be able to arrest the powers from another of their siblings. To do otherwise risks punishment three.
4. Setting about the destruction of Mother's skin in any way that might be detrimental to her health is strictly forbidden to the white children and they should work hard to encourage the green children not to do so, either. To ignore risks punishment two.
5. The heirarchy is law. Do not disobey your elders. Primaries will obey Elementals, Secondaries will obey Primaries. To do otherwise risks punishment one.
The Punishment
The consequences for breaking the rules. These are the things that keep gods chained down, and are the reasons they envy mortals their freedom. Above all, a god or goddess covets their sense of self and safety. Keep in mind what kind of terrible things your fellow gods can do to you at their leisure without any sort of warning when you are thinking punishment one wouldn't hinder you. And think of your eternal humiliation when you're bashing punishment two. Most don't add that to their record.
Punishment one. - The god or goddess will be able to feel pain without leisure to his or her discretion. This will abide for one century.
Punishment two. - In addition to suffering punishment one, the god or goddess will have his or her power stepped down a level. For an Elemental, they will be regarded as a Primary, for a Primary, a secondary, and for a secondary, a messenger. This punishment will abide for one millennia.
Punishment three. - The god or goddess will face the trial, in which the Elemental gods and the Mother and Father dragon will decide their punishment. This is said to end in you getting tossed out of the pantheon and left to wander the earth until you die... oh, and did I mention, gods don't reincarnate unless they are given an immortal soul?
