The Great Lite vs Heavy Crusader debate..
...or not so great, but I was doing some research following a conversation with Ahlori, and found the following: A full set of Aegis Elf Plate adds up to 179 points, whereas Wyrmskin adds upto 141 - a benefit of 38 points.

Strength adds points to both Lite and Hvy (and Sword, Shield etc) in 1 per 10 strength (it would seem based on jewelry experiments), but dex does not add to WyrmSkin skill (confirmed).

However - what I dont know exactly is the dex penalty - I was talking to Elvish (of HoS) and he says his toon dropped from 205 to 154 dex, which is a 25% hit. On my toon that would be 215x.75 = 161 (from 203 with wyrm), which would make it a 42 dex lost or 84 points of defence.

At 100% Hvy I would therefore get 38 x 300% extra points, and lose 84, a net gain of 30 defence. If I got 150%, I would gain 49 points of defence.

Hmm - hardly world shattering, but it is correct - and more so that the resists would be around 50% as opposed to 15% for Wyrm. Question is, is it worth re-speccing over 100 points... (20 days?)

Debate over :-) Thanks Ahlori!

I know you have more than 100%, if you have 1750 def in light

at 150% armor skill your multiplier is 4, so don't figure it at 100%, no one at 100% has enough def for a high def based toon

so 38x4=152, 152-84=68...so where are you getting 49 from

so essentially do you want less defence and let some barbs pop you for 425 instead of 250, or do you want heavy armor and...uhm lose nothing since nothing you have is dex based...even 99% of all bladeweaving dex based crusaders are running around in heavy armor because of the advantages vs the tiny bit of atr and dmg they lose

retraining? 20 days? have you heard of farmin Rom...make some cash get it over with faster, all you gotta do is be at the keyboard looting gold and items and sellin

Hi Ahlori,

I dont know where I got into my head that the 150% multiplier was 3 (I think coz I get 3 pts for each pt of Lt Arm skill added, but that a math mistake). Ok, so 4 x is a much bigger deal - Completely ceded - you also need to factor in the Defence Stance Bonus which adds, what 30% more?

I do have to disagree to the PL'ing deal - I have about 142 Lt Armor (over the 90 pt mark, but lets simplify) 90 trains I think.

Respeccing doubles every train, and halves every 6 hours. Decays 4 points a day.

So, despeccing 90 trains in 1 go will cost:

100+200+400+800+1600+3200+ ... 100*2^90.

2^90 is a *VERY* large number. Particles in the universe etc kind of size.

Now, how much can you speed this up? Say 10 million farming? How much shorter is this. It seems to me is that if you try to do 5 trains a day, by the end of 90/5, or 18 days -- well I make that accumulate to 100*2^18 gold (262144*100 gold or 2 million gold).-- not huge. To do 6 trains a day -- that would take 15 days, but now you double at 2x a day -- so, your cost is 2^30 (thats about 400 million gold). So yes I can reduce the time from 20 to 15 days, at a cost of 400 million. Actually this is an underestimated because it is the sum of the series, so you need to double the cost - 800 million to detrain 90 points in 15 days. 800 million to save 5 days? To half time to 10 days, would take 100*2^60 gold. Don't underestimate power series.

Another way to look at this, is how many trains can you get in for 1 million, and how much time go by before you can do it again.

100+200+400+800+1600+3200+6400+12800+25600+51200 =~ 1 million.

Thats 10 trains. Now you have to wait 2 1/2 days before you can train again from 100. If you don't then eventaully you'll hit the accumulating power curve again.

I might have got the math wrong, but I've been doing this, and it is an EVIL formula they put in place. Keeps you hooked into the game :-)

well...to me 1 mil per 2.5 days sound good to me ;)

sounds like light farming, i know most people can't farm 1.5 mil in a few hours like i can't but still in 2.5 days one mill should be reasonable

Re: asdf
hmm. But it doesn't buy you anything other than not logging in for 5 minutes every day. Will still be out of action for 90/10 * 2.5 days -- 22 days - and it costs you 22 million to save logging in and out a character.

Definitely more cost effective to just do 4 a day. Thats costs 2000 gold. I don't know how anyone can farm a million in a couple of hours, other than maybe a level 50+ druid in a profitable spwan. Sure, pump a million in at the end, to save a couple of days, but thats the most you can save time wise.
