The Best Coffee In Town
~A wall of tinted glass meets you. You've heard about this place, but you've never been before. The heady coffee aromas strike your senses and you feel drawn into the place.
The seam between wall and door seems invisible, but eventually, you find a small steel handle and you push gently. The door opens and the wonderful smells hit you. You can't help but close your eyes and smile as you enter the cool atmosphere.
Carefully, you wander to a long, high-top counter, solid marble of the purest white. Behind are shelves stocked high with all the different and wonderful coffees, everything you can imagine. It will take you forever to choose, but there is no pressure, no rush.
In the distance it seems, you can heard music, so you look around. The place appears empty at first. To one side of you, you can see the street through the tinted windows. Nice, you think, you can see out, but no-one can see in. To your other side, you see a selection of doors and curtains. In between and all around, you see clusters of leather chairs and sofas with low tables in the centres. You know right off the furniture is comfortable. This place howls money and taste.
So where is everybody? People have been raving about this place all year, yet it seems deserted. Then you hear laughter from the far end, behind one of the many doors. You decide to investigate while you continue to think on your choice of coffee.
One of the doors is slightly ajar. You peer through to find several people sitting on the same plush sofas and chairs, talking over their coffees and enjoying themselves. You then hear more laughter from the room next door, but this door is closed. This place has private coffee rooms where you can enjoy your coffee without the presence of strangers. Satisfied that you know why the main room is deserted, you go back to the counter and consider your options once again. So many coffees, it's hard to decide and some that you know you've never even heard of.
Eventually, you make your choice, but still, you find yourself alone at the counter. You look around, here and there, but you can't see anyone. Then a smell of cinnamon and vanilla breezes past you. You turn about quickly, wondering where that wonderful aroma has come from.
"Welcome."
You spin around again quickly to find yourself faced with a small, young looking woman. Her dark eyes peer up at you with a smile that could be close to angelic. Raven black hair gleams in the overhead lights, giving it a hue of deep blue. Tucked neatly behind her small ears, you see several piercings, all silver lining each ear.
She smiles again, "Can I get you something?"
You stammer, still having not decided yet what you want.
The woman smiles once more, showing perfect teeth in a perfect smile..
You end up ordering something simple and she floats away to the other end of the counter and you watch as she collects some freshly ground beans and goes about making your coffee.
She returns a few moments later and places a pristine white porcelain cup and saucer on the counter. You pay your money.
"If there is anything you need, don't be afraid to ask." She tells you, "Welcome to Chance Coffee House. Enjoy."~
