Teamspeak vs. VentriloWhich is better: Teamspeak or Ventrilo?
a bit about them both:
What is Teamspeak?
Teamspeak is a quality, scalable application which enables people to speak with one another over the Internet. Teamspeak consists of both client and server software. The Teamspeak server acts as a host to multiple client connections, capable of handling literally thousands of simultaneous users. This results in an Internet based teleconferencing solution that works in a variety of applications such as team mates speaking with one another while playing their favorite online game, small businesses cutting costs on long distance charges, or for personal communication with friends and family.
Among Teamspeak's incredible range of features are crystal clear voice communication, Windows/Linux cross-platform design for both the client and server, a built-in web based administration panel for the server, and a highly scalable user permissions system.
Teamspeak is free of charge to non-commercial users.
Ventrilo 2.3.0 is the next evolutionary step of Voice over IP (VoIP) group communications software. Ventrilo is also the industry standard by which all others measure them selves as they attempt to imitate it's features.
By offering surround sound positioning and special sound effects on a per user, per channel, per server or global configuration level the program provides each user the option to fully customize exactly how they wish to hear sounds from other users or events.
Ventrilo is best known for it's superior sound quality and minimal use of CPU resources so as not to interfere with day to day operations of the computer or during online game competitions. It is also preferred for the simple user interface that any first time computer user can very quickly learn because the most commonly used features are immediately visible and can be activated with a single click of the mouse.
On my old system, I had both but had only used TS because that's what the guildies were using and I had a lot of problems with echo. Given the opportunity, I'd be willing to try either.
I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don’t have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Let’s do some living after we die
Wild horses couldn’t drag me away
Wild, wild horses, we’ll ride them some day

Re: Teamspeak vs. Ventrilo
We use vent and at one time we were working on downloading TS to speak with a group that we were PVPing with, but never fisnished the download. I can say that it helped out a lot when our group for Sunken Temple used it together. I think that was one of the best groups I was with and it was part my guild and part pug.
Re: Teamspeak vs. Ventrilo
I've used TS on a few occasions. I kept it set to a bound key though, last thing I need is my kids running around fighting or playing in the background while everyone hears. lol
I try and only use it when they are asleep also because many people use quite colorful language.
Re: Teamspeak vs. Ventrilo
I use both Teamspeak and Ventrilo on a regular basis depending on who I'm grouping with. Our guild uses Ventrilo for the most part. I personally prefer the sound quality of Teamspeak. For some reason people's voices sound kind of "funny" on Vent to me (I have a lot of RL friends who play so that's the reason I'm able to tell the difference) and there's less static/echo/background noise on TS.
From reading the posts it seems there's really no rhyme or reason to it all. I think they may be equally good/bad (however you want to look at it) and it just comes down to individual settings??? <shrug>
