Tai
Tai was born to a wealthy Japanese lord of considerable wealth and influence. Her mother was a Greek heiress who had cast off the pitiful existence that most of her peers had accepted as the be-all and end-all of their affluent lives. She had volunteered to be an influential ambassador to the mysterious lands to the East.
This was the only information that Tai was able to wrest from her controlling father. Believing emotion was a waste of time and effort, he kept all else away from her, leaving Tai in the all too capable hands of the efficient nurses he had hired for her. She proved far too headstrong for the helpless nurses, who had no idea how to deal with such an intrinsically different individual.
Someone who voraciously devoured any and all information that came her considerable way. She sought out the ideas that were too radical for her father and his counterparts. She acted the individual in a society that praised conformity and rigid adherence to law. She found the freedom and chaos posed in her books exhilarating. She understood there was danger in too much anarchy, but had to escape her stifling confinement. There was a wealth of information outside that was too controversial for her society to accept.
After a final confrontation with her father over his uncompromising views, Tai left, forsaking her father's name, and all others, forever. In several rather bizarre twists of fate, Tai joined an eclectic adventuring party led by a Half-Giant with unusual powers of the mind. It was there that Tai found a certain... acceptance of self and others, even if not perfect. Two members of the group, however, were somewhat less than accomidating. Lurgonz, a violent half-breed brawler, and Rothgar, a lecherous and greedy bard. Lurgonz had ties to the Orkish armies and betrayed the party into their clutches, where he was slain as a reward for his treachery. The warrior of the group, a mulhurondi godblood named Haphis, wounded the Ork general, allowing them to escape. In the ensuing fracas, Rothgar was wounded by a crossbow misfire. Tai soon learned to scatter caltrops around her bedroll when Rothgar had night watch. After the party managed to accidentally collapse the time-stream, anger an elder god, and bend reality neatly in half, the intervention of a legendary wizard repaired the damage they had done with the unexpected side-effect of erasing Tai's original fate-line. The wizard granted the party's wish that Tai be allowed to live in their timeline, though she did not truly belong.
he party was soon betrayed again however, this time by Rothgar, who had sold his soul to fiends for power. In an epic battle, Tai and Haphis managed to kill him, Tai riddling him with crossbow bolts and Haphis cutting him down. Despite the best efforts of a healer, a cursed poison claimed Tai's life soon after.
In 308, she woke up in the grasslands between Genil and Nureese . She made a haphazard way to Nureese, meeting Lukavei Del'Viera at the entrance to the Ikki! Ikki! Mistaking her for a rather fragile indidual, he advised her against entering, suggesting that the club was a little too...much for her too handle. Taking this in stride, Tai allowed him to make conversation. Learning he was a longtime resident of Nureese, she decided to take his information. A wise act on both their parts as Morrigan Aensland happened to be taking out some frustration in the fight pits. Taking men apart.
Lukavei offered the use of his home to her as a safe haven. Accepting his offer, Tai and Luk came to an understanding. Both being rather independent creatures, yet still wanting occasional interaction with the outside world, they agreed to keep the other company, when they so wished, and to live rather comfortably with the other. They soon discovered,to their everlasting relief, that they tolerate each others idiosyncrasies better than most everyone else it had been their fortune to meet.
