Server Ques
Until recently I didn't have to wait to log into the game. I tried to get in last night and the que was over 300. How many people are on a server and how difficult is it to create new ones? You know the problem is only going to get worse when they release the expansion pack. Essetially that will be releasing the game all over again and those that don't play/know about it now sure will in a few months. I can imagine that this doens't bode well for those that are scheduled to be in a raid. If you have to wait a half hour or longer to get on, the raiding party won't wait and you miss out. Is your server full? How long do you have to wait to get in? Has waiting affected your raiding or other game playing plans? Just interested in some discussion on this topic.

Re: Server Ques
There was some article addressing this. Basically they had the big influx of new accounts after the holidays. They are however planning to make some upgrades to make everything run smoother and they are anticipating another big swing with the expansion.

Re: Server Ques
I get very frustrated with queues. Coming from DAoC, where I only waited in a queue twice in over 2 years of playing to get on the server and there were zero queues for RvR (daoc's pvp style) action, I get almost road-ragey when I see a queue login on my screen. such is the perk of playing a much less popular mmorpg I guess. I don't think it's acceptable for WoW though. They for sure have the money coming in to fix this problem. I've been checking out Guild Wars, which is free per month, and no queues to login and it's just one big world - no seperate servers. Guild Wars has it's issues, but they are easier to accept since it's free per month. Maybe I have unreal expectations for WoW, but since I've already played an mmorpg that didnt have queues, I don't find them acceptable in a much newer mmorpg.

Re: Server Ques
Since this is my first mmorpg, I guess I never thought I would have to wait to get online. I feel that they should have anticipated that players of other mmorpg's would move over in a large group and that they would encourage other new players to join them. If it was me, I would have had more servers available than I thought I would need. Maybe not open them up all at once, but have them available if they were needed. Now we have to wait for them to set them up and test run them before release. I don't think they did a very good job of planning and researching their player base to start with. I am not in a position to raid, but I don't like waiting to get in. I find myself getting involved in something else and then when I can get in, I am not as interested in playing anymore.

exactly! I mean, I know I'm not a typical customer of theirs. I know their demographic is not 30 year old moms, but that doesnt change the fact that I am a 30 year old mom. I have to fit in playing around my family needs and a job. some evenings, I may just have an hour before bed to play... oh... queue. well i'm not going to sit there for most of my hour wondering if i'll get in in time to do anything fun, so I go and watch tv or read a book or play a different game.

WoW is fun PvE and the BGs are fun too, but when you can't play on your own schedule (i thought i paid for 24/7 playtime) then it just leads to me finding other hobbies and logging in to WoW less and less.

Re: Server Ques
Actually, from what I have read it sounds to me like the player base for WoW is older and much more casual than the base was for EG when it started. You have the same players, but now they have jobs and families and want to play on their terms not the game designers. My BF and I created new Alliance characters so we could have more of a chance to get into a raid guild as our guild fell apart. The ques doens't help me in leveling and making myself look good to the guild. Maybe it is time to shelf it for a while and wait to see what they really do with the expansion.
