Sept 11th poem that I was requested to write
Today we honor
everyday heroes.
Brave men, women and children
whose names became known in an instant.
In the face of tragedy,
we overcome the unknown
and unite as humans.
Not as people from separate races or ethnic backgrounds
but as people with shared compassion, faith,
hope & love.
We honor those fallen and those
sacrificed untimely
by remembering who they were.
They change from just a “nameless face”
and become a testament to the depth and
capacity of the human heart.
May we never take their courage for granted
and may we always keep the value of our
own lives in perspective, as we remember
those brave souls that have stood before us.
Above all, may we remain united
in God’s endless sea of love…
