Screenshots->Sigs
I know I someone write about this but I can't find it.
Anyone know how to open screenshots in a viewable fashion? When I take them I get a wierd extentions and none of my programs read it. After than you can make it a sig in.. Paint did someone say?
I don't know if Paint can read Targa files (.tga), which are what WoW screenshots are. I use Photoshop myself. You have to re-save them into JPEG (.jpg) format for use on the web. (Or GIF, but nobody much uses that format).
Re: Screenshots->Sigs
Nope, paint doesn't recognize .tga and neither does the Windows Picture and Fax viewer. So I have these screenshots that I can't view cuz I'm too cheap to buy something like Photoshop.
Isn't there a way to set up so that when you take screenshots they're in a differnt file type? I know there was something like that for EQ2.
Otherwise I need to find some other free software somewhere to view these. Any suggestions?
Re: Screenshots->Sigs
I thought the first step would be resaving to a jpeg, but I couldn't even do that as I couldn't open 'em at all! Thanks very much for all the suggestions I will dl the trial and see what magic I can work.
Re: Screenshots->Sigs
No, WoW only does .tga files for whatever reason. I agree Photoshop is pricey (but great). Paint Shop Pro is cheaper and is also pretty good.
A free image editor that does support .tga files can be found here
Re: Screenshots->Sigs
All I gotta do is be able to open it and save it as something Paint understands. Then its all easy. I'm such a paint hacker, it's almost sad. I created a sig once in Paint for my EQ character. Took several hours and some eye strain, but in the end it looked like photoshop fuzzy version. LOL!
Re: Screenshots->Sigs
Oops, I know you posted this a while ago, but I just now saw it. I had the same problem, and no photoshop etc. There is a free program at www.irfanview.com that I use. It will convert your tga files for you. There are some other free editing programs that you can use, longer than just a trial. I liked Picasa2 www.picasa.com. I like the adobe program, but the full version is a little steep price wise. Picasa does some basic things for you and will work for the screenshots.
