Quebec Citadelles??
From today's transactions list:
Montreal Canadiens-- Ended its affiliation agreement with the Quebec Citadelles of the American Hockey League.
Just wondering how this will impact the Scorpions.....
Wahoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no more plundered rosters, no more b.s. call ups at the most critical times. All we got out of that affiliation was their stupid name on our letter head.......which did us no good at all. They never sent one player down, and i am personally glad we no longer have an affilation with those clowns.
Re: Quebec Citadelles??
uummmmmm.....Jonathon Delisle, David Cornacchia, Scot Myers. Without the affiliation we see none of these guys.
It also helps recruiting to get the better younger player who might look at us as an alternative to the echl.

Re: Quebec Citadelles??
Scotty (stone hands ) Meyers wasn't good enough to play at double A level, let alone at the triple A level. And look at the teams Tony built with no affiliations...except for Detroit, but how many vipers players were placed during Tony's tenure?
Patt Dunn and Doug Frank are determined to destroy this club, Frank by firing Tony, and please tell me who the hell is gonna line up to play for an unproven rookie, ex player? And don't forget your affiliation cost us Cornnachia and Delisle, at the most critical time of our season....oooo yeah...thats really great for our club! Who did they send down after they denied us the 2 best players (besides richards) we had????...Nobody....Tony had to go out and find guys to take 5 game contracts, and they were gone after those 5 games...weren't they? You seem to think it takes an affiliation to get players to play here when thats total bunk, cuz this league would have folded long before, if it couldn't attract any players....which we know they did. The only ones who gain by affiliations are the parent club....who can take their ball and go home any time they want.
P.S.To Doug Frank
Owners own
general managers manage
coaches coach....quit messing with the natural order, cuz you don't know squat about hockey!
Re: Quebec Citadelles??
If it weren't for the affiliation, we would have never seen Delisle in the first place! If you were to ask all the coaches in this league if they would rather recruit with an affiliation or without one, I would be willing to wager that at least 90% would prefer to have one. Will we lose players to call-ups, maybe some, but that doesn't happen that often down here.
Did it work well here last season?, no. Yet it did work well in
Austin, Memphis, Fort Worth, and San Antonio. So we can argue the merits of an affiliation all day, but in the end I feel ANY organization is better off with one.

Re: Quebec Citadelles??
I happen to know that the team is talking to a couple of VERY good players. The problem is these players will only come here if we have an agreement with a AAA team. Because the deal with the cits seems to be gone we need to find a new one. I have agreed with you both in the past and have disagreed before as well. Today you are both right and you are both wrong......only in my humble opinion. The team is better with the agreement. It does hurt if the AAA team takes and does not give back or replace. This sometimes takes time to develop. As for Mr. Frank......are you nuts? You can defend Tony all you want. I do and so does Kres, because we both call Tony our friend, but his leaving does not mean Mr. Frank had decided to start losing. Mr. Frank is an owner that wants and almost demands success. We may not agree with some of his moves and his ideas but we should NEVER question his desire to put a winner on the ice EVERY night. Just my two cents worth and that is all its worth.

Re: Quebec Citadelles??
"Mr Frank is an owner who wants and almost demands success" Really Scorps....is that why he hamstringed us with more rookies than we were required to carry??? Is that why he allowed his players to quit on Tony at the end of december, beginning of Jan??????? If he was so demanding......i must have missed it.....cuz it didn't look like he demanded jack sh*t out this team for the last half of the season. The point is you 2.....Doug Frank came in here....and made the best recruiter in this league so mad....he wanted to quit mid season, he came in here and took a championship caliber organization...and ran it right into the dust. Now if you 2 are satisfied with going .500 on the season..only to watch these sad sacks skate around in circles so they didn't have to play anymore this season....then fine....you got exactly what you wanted. But it's hardly what the rest of us wanted, and we especially didn't want doug frank sticking his dirty little finger into a perfect pie. Doug Frank is a magician allright, but I wonder if you'll be singing the same tune when dipsh*t doug makes your team disappear. And as far as any affiliations go, sometimes you have to wait for it to develop???? Great...so we'll sit here with our thumbs up our butts, with a plundered roster....and see what develops! The only way it works is if it's a 2 way street, and this sucker goes one way only!
Re: Quebec Citadelles??
Do you think Doug FORCED Tony to carry 9 rookies? If you do you are wrong. Do you think Tony did everything Doug wanted him to do? Once again if you do you are wrong. I am not happy at all about last season. I am not sure if I could find anyone who is. All I am going to say is I like what I see from a long term standpoint. If you want my specific details give me a shout.

Re: Quebec Citadelles??
Happy? HAPPY? It sometimes kills me what people don't know.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Tony Martino, and it increased after I got to Albuquerque! You weren't going to see the same type of team anymore because of the veteran rule. Tony did a marvelous job of recruiting a younger team, its unfortunate that they didn't pan out. Yann Joseph had awesome numbers in the QMJHL, but struggled here. Same with J.F., Scot Myers won us a lot of hockey games, but had some struggles late in the season. But the reality is that without the affiliation it is much more difficult to get the high quality young guys. They all think they still have a chance to play in the NHL, so they think they have to play in the ECHL.
And to say I enjoyed not making the playoffs is idiotic, I only get paid as long as we are playing. So I would have enjoyed playing until at least uummm... August!

Do you think Doug FORCED Tony to carry 9 rookies? If you do you are wrong. Taken from the article because he does give a damn...front page, scorps website and i quote "He realizes though that he has and will make some mistakes. He has learned that by going with the pure developmental approach to the game brought a lot of benefits, but also brought some weaknesses that the team had to adjust to.
Yeah i do think it was Doug Frank who hamstringed us Scorps.....says so right there....buy his own admission!
Re: Quebec Citadelles??
We could still have an affliation with Montreal's AHL team whereever it is going to be located. Or was that deal dead when Martino was let go? I am sure there are other teams out there that would be looking for a CHL affliate to send players too.
