The pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline say they have a new drug in the pipeline which may be useful for low carbers. The compound was first designed to fight type 2 diabetes and by the looks of it works by increasing the quantity of glucose excreted in the urine. GSK's spokesman envisioned people taking it to allow them to eat carby foods, then pop the pill and say goodbye to the glucose overload. It's still at a very experimental stage, so it would be many years before such a drug would be available to the public.

So ... if such a pill were available, would we give up our low carb diets - or would we take the view that it's healthier to avoid carbs in the first place?
