New from Connecticut!
Hi, I am Cindy Powers - homeschool mom to 4 children, ages 6, 9, 13, and 15. Although, none of my children have been diagnosed, I think my youngest may have some tendencies. I can call and call his name, and he doesn't answer. He also will not respond to "Shhh!" - just has to get it all out first.
I was invited to join this group to become more aware of the needs of children with autism and their parents. I am a Consultant with Bright Minds: The Critical Thinking Co. ~At Home. Our materials are widely used by parents of children diagnosed with autism/aspergers as well as The Sylvan Learning Centers nationwide.
The more I understand, the more I can better recommend the proper materials to help. Thanks for allowing me to participate. I will NOT be spamming the group, but will make recommendations if asked.

Romans 8:28
Proverbs 22:6 "It is nothing short of a miracle that the modern methods of instruction have not yet entirely strangled the holy curiousity of inquiry; for this delicate little plant, aside from stimulation, stands mainly in need of freedom; without this it goes to wreck and ruin. It is a very grave mistake to think that the enjoyment of seeing and searching can be promoted by means of coercion and a sense of duty." -- Albert Einstein... http://www.brightminds.us/web/CindyP Edited by: MamaPow at: 2/4/06 10:15 am
