This is interesting... if you haven't heard by now, Warner Bros. is currently making new Looney Tunes shorts to go in front of their movies, just like in old days (though maybe just for their G and PG flicks.) This sounds great, because:
A) These cartoons won't be using any live action like in Space Jam.
B) Several different directors are taking a shot at these; each one emulating a different WB animator from years past(McKimson, Jones, etc...)
C) After hearing that they used to play cartoons before movies back in the day, I always felt cheated when I go to the theater. I mean, it beats reading those idiotic slides and watching 30 mins. of trailers.
Some of the cartoon synopses seem verrry interesting:
FULL METAL JACKASS
Coyote is accidentally sent ACME's military catalog.
EXECUTIVE TWEET
Sylvester breaks into the White House to get the president's bird, and is aided by ghosts of the presidential dogs Checkers, Liberty and Buddy.
MY GENERATION G-G-G-AP
Porky drops his daughter off at a rock concert and then discovers it's inappropriate for a y-y-young lady. (seems like a new way to play off Porky's character)
REAPER MADNESS
Granny goes shopping, followed by a tall gentleman with a black cloak.
I know the probability is high for these new guys to screw up the much-beloved franchise, but as of right now, it seems like they're doing everything right. Thoughts, folks?
I look forward to the shorts! I might end up going to a movie just to see...nahhhh.
It looks like they're gonna try to make the cartoons "hipper" (going by the description of the Porky short), that bothers me a tad, but it's better than nothing I guess!
Hey!
