I live in Canada and my son hasn't been diagnosed with anything yet. We are in the process of going to a wellness and acupuncture clinic for him to be tested with allergies and other tests that might show some possible "environmental" exposures. I want to do the same. Before I label my son, I want to make absolutely sure that it couldn't be anything like that or even a head injury (he fell off a play structure when he was 2, was sent home fine but all the info I've read recommends that brain injury be ruled out before diagnosis) Our doctor is wonderful. She is not traditional but not overly conventional either. She just listens to my concerns and respects my input. After all, we have to take ours, and our childrens health into our own hands and be an advocate these days because doctors aren't perfect, they do make mistakes and it's not unreasonable to want to explore all possibilities before diagnosis.(I think) They can only really go by our initial instincts, family history and our personal info first before they do anything else.
