Eddie and I go fishing, we both catch fish(real important)

On the way home Eddie says after a few cold ones "Hey Catch, give me 2 of your fish and I will have twice as many as you"

After a little thought I say "Not, but I'll tell you what give me 2 of you fish and we will have the same amount"

Aside from Eddie being a better fisherman, how many fish did we each catch
