Im a tennis fan and i must say Hewitt is one of my faves!
ive been devistated lately to hear of the break up between my two favourite tennis stars.

Actually Kim is a doll, perhaps the fact that English is not her native language is what gets to her. When talking in Dutch she is so much more open and friendly, more comfortable I suppose. I met her once, she is really nice.
Leyton and Henman....I don't like the first, respect the second. Leyton just rubs me the wrong way, one of the few Aussies I don't like. Sorry ladies.

I didn't like leyton at first either Sila. His attitude can stink sometimes, but hey, so can mine. lol I guess I respect him most because he is good at what he does and has no shame in coming back home to see his friends and family back in adelaide.

Yeah, well I do follow tennis...a lot. Die-hard fan really.
Hewitt isn't one to do a lot besides the Australian Open, though he tries. Just the way he communicates with the other players...it's a bit ugh.
He has this...mannerism to yell 'come on' at every point he makes, it's a bit off-putting for those playing against him and the crowd.
Bit of an attitude. I'm not sure...he's just a bit too fanatic I think. ;) He is a fighter though, one tough cookie.

lol- Yes I supose he is fanatical and rather a drama queen, but where would we be without them? lol To me, He's done a fair bit, but then I compare him to the Scud... who hasn't done anything for Australian tennis except give it a bad name when he cheated on Delta Goodrem.
Man, Delta is like a Goddess here in this country. His rep has just gone 'SPLAT', especially cheating on her for PARIS HILTON! *dies of shock* The guy's nuts!
I hear Paris's book and tv show 'the simple life', well their ratings are also going down the gurgler. Serves her right for slagging Delta.... bad move, very bad move.

How could he, to such a sweetheart! And I was even liking him - didn't much care for him before - because he had a relationship with her, which showed he had some brains in there. Damn him, how could he! Poor Delta. :(

Yes... *pouts* It all broke out when Paris declared, her new man was hot (and that they'd been partying together) and she showed everyone his picture on her mobile phone. It just happend to be Marc... she said that Marc said (lol sucha gossip phrase) that Delta was 'boring'.

Fuck Marc, of course everyone is 'boring' compared to that slut! Delta was *sick* for crying out loud, of course she wasn't as lively as most! Delta actually *had* a good running job, which she needed to sustain, he hardly wins anything these days. Pah, asshole.
Ugh, that's very Hilton of her, forgetting that her current flirt was still dating someone else and just showing the picture to the world. Damn her and damn him!

as for Delta and MarK ... mark isnt paris's new bo ... she jsut said that ... as for a pic you stupid MORON (paris) you can get that anywhere! i think he just got sick of Delta ... hes always been a get about ... going from lady to lady i dont know why Delta went for him ... but i always HOPED she would be good for him. But hey ... lets hope this makes her stronger!

I am quite aware he doesn't mean it to be that way, but it's the way it comes across. Also he comes across as slightly...arrogant, sorry.
I can understand why Australia is proud of him, he's done great, but I just don't like him. He's so fanatic that he always seems to ignore people. He needs to 'zone-out' before a match, which comes across as slightly off-putting. I know he doesn't mean to do it, but it comes across as that nonetheless.
But thank goodness for different opinions, eh? :) I don't mean to bash your man, hun, just sharing my opinion. He is a great player though, very hard-working.

Just have to say it. Not putting him down, he is a great player, but I just don't like his behaviour. However, since he beat my two boys he deserves some yelling at;

I have to offically declare, that I now LOVE Leytton. Not as far as looks go, but man can that guy hit a ball and play a game of tennis!
I've been following the AUS Open from the first day and have been with him and Alicia Molick the whole way.
It's too bad he lost in the grand final though, it would have been nice to see him win. He's the first Aussie to reach the semi-final since Pat Cash and that was about 17 years ago.
My opinion of him has improved much since I've been watching the game and actually paying attention to it.
Some people may interprupt his behaviour as arrogance or pride. But Hewitt is a player that doesn't rate himself by his talent, but by what he wants to achieve.
The whole 'Common' and arm gesture thing was actually started by someone else way back. He has taken it up as a symbol to pay respect not only to them, but to keep the flame of great tennis alive.
Hewitt expresses himself so publically because he has to phsyc himself mentally up for a game. I mean, you look at the last two games in the AUS Open he played. There was no way his body was capable of playing comfortabley, but his determination and mental strength was what pushed him to reach his goal.
Now think, if you made yourself so hyped about what you could achieve and the goals you tell yourself you can reach that you believe you can do it, I mean, really believe that you could achieve them, how would you respond when you were one step closer to overcoming them? (Explains Hewitts over-zealous reactions to points and scoring)
I know I would be more than going just 'Common!' I'd be jumpin all over the place screamin' my head off after winning a point!
I KNOW that I wouldn't be able to handle the mental pressure placed on a player of the professional and talented likes of Leyton Hewitt, so today my friends, I salute him. He has won my respect and admireation.

Kai, hun, not to put you down, but...I have to disagree. You see I find his spirit and wish to go for every point amazing and I salute him for it, however...the common towards other players, especially when they make a mistake is just not done. When he makes a point himself then he's welcome to do it, but to do it when the other makes a mistake is just rude. I'm sure he doesn't do it on purpose, but if I were his opponent I wouldn't take it.
Quite a few players even commented on it towards him, recently. After the Nalbandian/Hewitt match he was confronted by several players, asking him to watch that because otherwise they'd file a personal complaint. This shows that they are uncomfortable with it. Heck players with a temper, such as the Argenteans and Spanish, have a hard time not talking to him about it; which resulted in the spitting thing with Nadal.
I find what Hewitt does inspiring, but things beside the tennis he plays make me think less kindly towards him. He's improved on that during the Roddick and Safin matches - must have been because of the 'talk-to' - but I still saw some come-on's after faults by the other.
Not wanting to put you down, hun, just my opinion. :)
I personally think Safin was better, after all he beat Federer in an amazing match. His technique is just better than that of Hewitt, though the latter makes up in stamina. Beating Federer, however, was a final in itself.

This my darling, was not a subject for you to 'agree' with or 'disagree' I know your contempt for Lleyton and I don't question you're opinion of him. But I for one, don't think he's the only fish in the bowl who can be rude and arrogant and therefore don't hold his behaviour as a strike against his game for my opinion of him.
I will still happily and proudly state, that I love Lleyton Hewitt, regardless of what you have to say or think, just as you may acertain to dislike him for his behaviour if that is what you wish to do.
