~Little Miss~
Ok, so as most of you know I am an ABA Therapist for the Autism Society. I work with a 4 year old little girl dealing with Autism, she is my "Little Miss".
So, this week was her first week of preschool. I have to go with her, she is unable to attend alone due to behavior and communication issues and such. We are currently in the process of "potty training" her. Let me just say this child is so strong willed and has such a strong spirit. She is doing ok with potty training, majority of our issues with this daily living skill is out of defiance. So, on her own she tells me she has to go. So we go to the bathroom, she goes, gets a "Good Job", a big hug and a kiss. She is so thrilled. Being pregnant, I have to go too! So I tell Little Miss she needs to sit her bottom on the floor right outside of the stall and when I am finished she will get her "Good Job" treat for going to the potty. I am hurrying, because Lord knows this child is quick as lightening, and I do NOT need her to run off while I have my britches down, lol!
Next thing I know, Little Miss is sooooo excited, keeps her bottom on the floor as I asked her to, and scoots her head underneath my stall and looks up and me (in this compromising position) and yells, "Good Job Ms. Jenn!!! You get a Good Job treat too! You go potty like a big girl!!!". I could not help but laugh! It was just too cute! Needless to say, she and I had a bonding moment together, in the bathroom, sharing Good Job treats....she even gave me a big hug, a kiss and a high five! My Little Miss.....I love that youngin'! Lord knows, she tries my patience, but it is such an awesome experience to wittness a once non-verbal child testing limits and boundaries and beginning to make sense of the world around her. Did I say I love my job??!!
