Late charge on credit card statement
I forgot to pay our credit card bill in November. We got a $25.00 late fee tacked on. I called and told them that I forgot to make the payment and had made a larger payment since then and asked them to remove the late charge. They did.
I had heard someone on a radio show that used to work for a credit card company. They said if you call with requests like mine and the answer is no, ask for a supervisor. He said most of the time they cannot remove a late charge or lower a rate but the supervisor can. They are not allowed to tell you that. I didn't have to get that far. I did however think about the call ahead of time. I was very polite and explained that I just plain forgot. (which is the truth) I apologized for and the person was very nice.
Thanks for the tip- I would of never have thought that a cc company would possibly do that. And you're definitely right- being polite will help a lot more than being rude.
