I know this EZ Board is nice and has served it's purpose, but to me, it's worn out it's welcome with all these pop-up ads and banners that take up half the screen. I would be more than willing to seek out new forum options, but I'm afraid that I might lose some of you forum dwellers in the transition. We've got a great community here, and I don't want to kill it. Then again, there might be many more people willing to join the forums if there weren't as much ads all over the place. So, would anyone be willing to jump ship from one forum to the next, or is this board "not broken/don't fix it?" Wow, that was the best use of the English language ever in that last sentence.
In the meantime, I'll look around for options. If I'm lucky, maybe Frymaster will make me another board offer...
I won't leave if you jump ship. In fact, I'll probably post more, because I don't visit the boards as often now since all the ads are killer on my dial-up.
As for forum options, if you have PHP and MySQL access on your college server (I don't think Keenspace will let you in on the specs necessiary for setting up the forums I have in mind), you can look into a PhPBB board or OpenBB, which are the best free forum options out there right now. You would have to have a pretty good knowledge of your server specs, though, but the set-up isn't too hard (at least what I got done before I found out I didn't have the necissary information on my server-d'oh).
I have a friend in the same situation, so if she finds a solution, I'll be sure to let you in on it. I doesn't look to good so far, though.
