In case you didn't hear, we are headed to Atlanta...
Sunethra and I will be at the Fan Faire in Atlanta early April. Not sure if any of you others will be there, but I thought I'd send the word out.

D'oh...just found out the dates for the FF. Falls right on my wife's birthday and we've already got plans to see Rob Zombie in concert that weekend....

The trip itself was good. It was great to meet Zathina and Kierzanna in person. (As well as Dealia and Estevao, their guild mates.) Atlanta and surrounding areas are beautiful this time of year.
The FanFaire itself kinda sucked, in my opinion. It was basically a glorified get together for people that already knew each other. The few events they had weren't worth showing up for. There were a LOT of hardcore people there that consumed the dev's bandwidth. people that already have the ear of the dev's, in my opinion. And it seems the only other time to get their ear was via alcohol at the local pubs... (And Belinda and I don't drink.)
They brought along about 30-40 computers... for about 300 people that showed; and they closed the comptuers down at 8 PM. So no late-night LAN parties unless you brought your own. (Which apparently FoH did, and they pretty much hogged the late-night gamers behind closed doors.)
Some good excerpts:
We managed to go out of our way to snag a developer at the "developer brunch" that we paid $30 extra for (grumble) and unload a slew of ideas on him. He wrote them all down, so perhaps we will see some in game. Unfortunately, from my perspective, a lot of them required art resources which means they will be a long time comin. :P
The two "dinners" they had on Friday and Saturday were a mix of SoE harassing their fan base and ccompany-vendored buffet (not that great... hehe). However, it was great to see and relate to the entire community at that point. Lots of people, even met a few of the more hard core players on Antonia Bayle, since they sat us by server.
Zathina and Kierzanna bent backwards to make our stay great, we ended up getting a ride out to their place each night and gaming till 3 or 4 am, then they drove us back to the hotel.
In retrospect, it turned out to be a much greater time to just hang with the people I know... in which case, the expensive hotel and the entrance fee for the fanfaire weren't worth their cost. The plane fare was, though.
We definitely need to do a nomads get together sometime... Pel's backyard seems to be a nice centralized location, and usually cheap fare from almost anywhere in the US to Las Vegas.
