Re: How does our infantry stand for?
Morocco doesn't have M-1A1 Abrahams MBTs. The T-72B are the best MBTs there, along with the M-60A3 TTS MBTs. And the infantry has been seen witha wide variety of weapons, it appears that no standard riffle has been determined.
Re: How does our infantry stand for?
No Man, Morocco DOES have the M1A1 Abrams, like Egypt does, my Uncle told it to me, he's a Major in the Army, he saw that one.
And, did u, Getafe Demon, Did you post the picture of Lock On Game with Moroccan C-130 Hercules and F-5?
Re: m-1
In my time in the army, I used the FN-FAL most of the time & it's the standard rifle in service but there aren't enough to go around. It's one hell of a rifle, & has been used on cermonial duties (alongside that modicum French rifle whose name I keep forgeting) but keep in mind, I have never used (on duty or active service) any French designed weapons except the FAMAS & that was in an excercise with French forces. I must say the FAMAS is a nice toy but not one I'd want to go to war & play with!
However, I must admit that not every unit standardises on FN-FAL. Paratroopers sport AKs (mostly Romanian types with the notable forward pistol grip) & I have occasionally seen the AMD-65 (a Bulgarian AK derivative).
I also have used the AKM & I believe they were Romanian made (with/without the forward pistol grip) although I did encounter what appeared to be Yugoslav examples & possibly some Egyptian. Note, that our AK procurements appear to be multi-sourced. In the meantime, my unit tested the AR-15 (M-16A1) & found it wanting in reliability but extremely leathal at close quarters.
I have to say that for most situations I find the AKM to be more practical, although I do believe that the FN-FAL is one rifle to be reckoned with, particularly if it was used to fill in the role of the SVD in the Soviet infantry. As far as standard issue goes, the FN-FAL is too heavy & cumbersome & is not practical to carry around (that being said, it's shooting qualities are superb by any standard & more than make up for that) still, the AKM is a much better alternative.
If I had to make a case for a new assault weapon in Morocco I'd pick the AK-101 with SS109 5.56x45mm rounds. I see no need to replace the FN-MAG, & the Browing 500 is almost perfect, so I'd keep them. Meanwhile, the FN-FALs should (in my opinion) be passed on the the Royal Moroccan Navy as a standard rifle & the AK/AKMs used by reservists.
