Home Improvement Tip o' the Day.....from Weems
It's very beneficial to THINK you are a contractor when doing your job.
-------------------------------

- think you are getting paid by the hour....and that you have other jobs waiting.
- think that your customer won't stand for shoddy work. He wants it done right or he won't pay you. No walking away from something that isn't acceptable.
- remember to do things in the quickest, most efficient way. If you have to, say install a dozen outlets and you are doing it inefficiently one-outlet at a time, you would go broke if you bid it by the job.
- try to think you are in someone elses house. If you were and you messed up, you certainly wouldn't be carrying on swearing and getting angry. You would look like a fool. A real contractor would undo the mistake and do it right, quietly and quickly, as possible without any emotion involved.
- remember that good contractors use the right tool for the job and tend to keep their work areas organized.
----------------------------

If you follow my tip of the day, wether it's gardening, paiting, sheetrock or whatever, I gaurantee you'll end up with a better job, quicker, with less mental stress on you.
It's all in the state of mind.
:c )

P.S. I finished framing area #2 last night (with 2 tricky wndows involved). I'll be sheetrocking starting tonight.

My husband always spends a day going back and forth to lowes and then runs out of time to do the actual project.

fucking driveways have needed re-doing for a year now. He's had the crap for a month.

EXACTLY!
A contractor would take an extra minute to look around and think about other parts and materials he might need. He might even buy much more than he needs and take back all the extras at the end of the project.
I've actually done well with my material estimates....it's the time that always takes more than you think.
Remember....a contractor always orders 10% more materials than he estimates....so I always do that. It tends to work out perfect.

(You might have to fire that husbear of yours.)

I gotta say.....I'm a little hurt by this blatant snubbery of my skills and good advice.
