History of Modern Wicca Part One:
Most Occult Historians will agree that the Modern Wiccan movement began with Gerald Gardner and the founding of the Gardnerian tradition in the United Kingdom. One of the biggest mysteries in Occult history is: Where did he learn his craft? According to his following, he learnd the Craft from a family of practicioners that were following the secretive path.
According to the archives of The Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids (O.B.O.D.) how ever, there are some major conflicts to this story. According to their records, both Gerald Gardner and Ross Nichols (the founder of O.B.O.D.) were members of the now defunct Aincent Order of Druids (A.O.D.) untill the collapse of A.O.D. in the Early part of the 1900's. At this point in time Both Nichols and Gardner were members of a local Naturist camp and it was at this camp that the foundations for both O.B.O.D. and the Gardnerian tradition were hammered out in detail both men helping each other with the planning. Gardner decided to break with tradition and the steriotypes of Druidism (rigid, solomn, etc...) and went towards the more flamboyant and at the time very riske' practices that the tradition has become famous for. Nichols continued with the more reserved and traditional approach.
More to come:
Merry Meet, Merry Part, And Merry Meet Again!
