Hi New Friends
My name is Josie. I am the proud mother of Tom, who is 5 1/2 and living with autism. Tom is my only child. We live in New Jersey near my husband's folks so Grandma can help out.
Tom is special and he is the joy of my life! He is non-verbal, so we've been teaching him sign language. He's picking up on it so quickly and he's thrilled to have a way to communicate. He just signed for bath, so I dropped everything and gave him what he signed for. Tom also adores the American flag so we have flags all over our apartment. We cook together and do a lot of arts and crafts...and he loves country music.
I'm a librarian and my hubby is in construction, so we're pretty much broke (money-wise). I am lucky to have a hubby that takes such good care of his son. He is so patient and he spends so much time with Tom. I hope to get to know all of you better and give any support that I can.

~Welcome Josie!~
Josie,

Welcome to the group! I'm Jenn and I started Moms United in Autism Awareness. It has been a rather slow start, but I am hoping this community will become both active and supportive in the near future.

Again, WELCOME!!!

In Friendship,
Jenn

Re: Hi New Friends
Hello and welcome.

It seems you're having some trouble
In dealing with these changes
Living with these changes (oh no)
The world is a scary place
Madness is the gift, that has been given to me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
