GvG character (really need your help!)
I had alot of fun yesterday in the raid on Purgatory. I think I wasn't high enough level to be there really(level 47 channeler with no bolts), but I enjoyed it.

After lastnight I have a few questions and I hope that you guys can give some input and help me make an effective GvG character, that can compliment the rest of the group.

First, I noticed that the action is pretty fast, and I have a hard time telling who is hitting me and with what. It seems to me that in GvG it's all about survivability. As as spell caster tho, defense is limited.

What strategies do you use to stay in the fight? Stealth? Armor? Healing? (If you're healing yourself to much you're doing no damage)

In regard to siege hammers and siege bows... are there any requirements to use these items? They seem to weigh alot.... What do casters do? Do only melees use them?

I also thought it would be cool to make an effective GvG template that was only level 49. Would you get targeted less or more then?

It seems like you would build a good GvG character much different then you might build a PK character.

Finally, take the time to list your experience, and why you like playing the character you do in GvG.

Thanks for the help.

I can tell you that Morbid only survives for two reasons

1. Dwarf HP's
2. Dwarf Damage

People generaly do not target Dwarves first because they have a boatload of HP's and they generally only do decent damage in GvG, compared to Channy's. On a good day my Censure hits for 635, generally avg 350-450. While I have been nuked by Channy's in excess of 900 points.

If you have been targeted and are being hit you have a couple of options; fight back or run. It can be difficult to find out who is hitting you, I generally move around a corner, heal up, MR a bit then jump back in on the designated target. I find it better to jump out, take some hits, deal some damage, then get to a safe area, rinse, repeat. If a target is almost dead, and I am being targeted, I will fight till either one is dead.

Generally, no amount of self-healing can keep up with the damage of PvP, GvG. But you can move to a "safe" spot and heal/regen.

Two types of templates have high surviveability in Sieges: High HP's (Dwarves, HG's, Mino's, Centaurs) and High Defense (excess of 1550+). I prefer the high HP variety because I like to get into the mix of things and reak havoc. I take a lot of Damage, and can usually survive a while. I like to think of Morbid as a mana-sink for the enemy to waste some time on.

I generally feel sorry for Melee in GvG because they "HAVE" to get up and personal, meaning they will not only be hit by the enemy but lots of friendly AoE as well. Small PvP Melee is fun, but in large scale siege with large groups facing off, Melee toons are not at an advantage. Siege is a ranged game.

I feel a high Defense (BW's, and Rouge's) type of character would do well in sieges. But my playstyle dictates I will be taking damage, and giving some out as well. Armor is great against melee damage and raises defense slightly, but Healer nukers are generally in Offensive stance most of the battle meaning they have poor defense anyways. Personally as a Healer Nuker, I would only bump armor for two reasons: Stats and Farming ability. Since niether helps out Healer Nukers in GvG I think it is a waste.

PK != GvG. A PK needs to hit hard, fast, and generally is geared for single or a few targets. GvG is a whole different ball game. That is why SB is so great, IMO, there is a lot of PK and GvG action going on.

Morbid, with his resist gear on eats 'fessors and channy's for lunch, unless they are cold channy's, (75% Fire, 65% Lit, 30% Cold). Also with Block @ 115% I can hold my own with most melee. With only 1187ATR I have a very difficult time taking out "Dex Monkeys" especially if they get into Defensive Stance.

Some tips for the "fast" action is get TS and get connected to the main channels, Make a /tar macro, get resists as high as possible, especially (Fire,Lit,cold). All the Int equipment in the game does you no good when you are dead. +Mana instead of +MR. +Stamina instead of +SR (If Melee).

I do not know the requirements on Siege equip.

Jungle Boogy
33 - Centaur Huntress: Disco Sucks!

If you play a high priority target (channy, fessor, etc.) you will probably die fast, so unload on the enemy's choice toons. Low priority targets can snipe if ranged or charge down the guns. If you can find a few clanks to do it, have them lead you into combat. In the Fog of War, they may attack Ironhammer, instead of you. As he is a fighter/crusader dwarf, he can take a few hits and give you the edge. I'll soak damage for you anytime.
