George RR Martin - A Game of Thrones
okay, so I'm completely behind y'all but I just finished "A Game of Thrones" last night and I'm itchin to get home and start the next book tonight.

I was really surprised that I liked this book so much. I've never gotten into the fantasy genre when it comes to books, but I absolutely love the characters.

My husband has told me to slow down. I got through the first book in a week. He said he's only on about page 300-something on the third book and I can't have it until he's done. Whatever shall I do? It's not like they sell books in stores and I can just go get my own. Oh wait... :P hahaha, I think that's how I ended up with my own mmorpg accounts too. we're very alike - and we don't like to share.

I need to get back to reading that series. It just took so long for the latest book to come out that I feel like I should read the entire series again. :doh1

that is a bummer. ya, on the plus side, getting started so late, I don't have to suffer through as much waiting as y'all.

I can't say about the others, but the first one is worth a reread!

LOL at you Zeli! I love that series!!! I am all caught up and am waiting anxiously for the next one.

For those of you that are stuck for something engrossing to read while waiting, I suggest:

The Amber Series by Roger Zelazny (fantasy, this is one that I read as they were being written. Just before a new one came out, I would re-read all the previous ones to catch up so I could go immediately into the new one! :lol )

The Honor Harrington Series by David Webber (epic sci-fi, my husband introduced me to these.. I am usually bored by techno-babble but this series wasn't over-run with it. The characters and storyline carry the whole thing very well, as any good book does and fantasy readers will enjoy it for the good story.)
