French 1 Portfolio 2nd Semester
IMPORTANT: You must show that you followed the writing process by turning in all drafts. The final product should include:
• Draft 1: Brainstorm-initial draft
• Draft 2: First copy
• Draft 3: Second draft (Revision of first copy)
• Final copy-done on computer NO EXCEPTIONS
ASSIGNMENT #1
• Name Activity: Write the letter of your name vertically on a sheet of paper. For each letter of your name, write a sentence that best describes yourself here at Highland. It does not matter where the letters in your name cross in the sentences. You must use at least eight sentences. If you do not have eight letters in your first name, use your last name, or any combination that you wish (including your French name). Illustrate the ideas stated in your sentences with pictures.
ASSIGNMENT #2
• Les personnes connues: Choose 5 famous people and write 3 sentences about each one. You must state the person’s name, age, and 2 adjectives describing them physically (tall, short, etc.) You must have one of each of the following people – 1 actor, 1actress, 1 sports celebrity, 1 singer, and one person from the PAST in French history (Yes, that means they are deceased – example: Joan of Arc.)
ASSIGNMENT #3
• Picture Description: Choose a film that has recently played in the movie theater. Find 5 pictures from THAT movie. Write 3 sentences for each picture, describing what is happening. Use ONLY the present tense and ONLY verbs you have learned. You must use a minimum of TEN DIFFERENT VERBS.
ASSIGNMENT #4
• Family Tree: Make a family tree illustrating your relationship to your family members. Choose one side of your family. Give at least one example of each family member. You must have a minimum of 10 family members on your family tree. (Mother, father, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, family pets, etc.) On the family tree, write, in complete sentences, the name of the person, the relationship to you, and paste a picture of the person above the description. Option: If you wish, you can make up a fictitious family tree using famous people instead of your own family members.
• Exemple: Elle s’appelle Madeleine. Elle est ma mère.
• Il s’appelle Oliva. Il est mon père.
